Once the tears dried and the two had released one another, George looked at his dad again, sitting beside him on the log. George had a question, but he wasn't sure whether to ask or not...

"Dad, it's so great to see you again, but I was told you died," George said, "If you were alive all this time, why didn't you come back?"

"George, my phoenix died, not me, and I can't go back, if the king found out I cheated death. Things would only get worse for me" His dad said, his fairy sitting on his shoulder, "Don't get me wrong, I missed you and Jack so much, but things are going on George, bigger than anyone could imagine. And war is going to break out against the king! But there is a safe place. Far away from here. away from conflict and where people can live their days in peace."

"speaking of which, Jack came back from the King, but he's not the same." George said as His dad's eyes widened and darkened greatly.

"He had a phoenix like me... figures...George have you found your myth yet?" His dad asked.

"Yes, this is Evermore," George said as Evermore perched on his shoulder.

"I'm so proud of you... also I want you to meet someone." His dad said, smiling as he stood up and grabbed George's hand.

"George, danger," Evermore spoke as George pulled his hand away, giggling nervously,

"Dad I should be getting back or Mum's going to get worried." He said. As his dad grabbed his wrist tightly. A strange look going over his eyes,

"George we both know your mum doesn't care about you like I do, so come with me"

"George! Leave! Now!"

"I can't! his grip is too strong!"

"Dad your hurting me! Stop!" the tension on his wrist eased and his dad pulled away,

"George, I want you to run back to the village, and stay there, I don't know what your hiding from me, but you have good reason to. I'll call you again when the preparations are ready. Stay safe and enjoy Wil's wedding for me." His dad said, as George nodded, running back towards the village, Evermore picking him up and taking him above the forest canopy and flying towards the village.

George's mind was racing, his heartbeat rapidly increasing. Why was his dad being so weird? Wasn't there only one dragon at a time?

That night George was in his room, Evermore on his perch, George hadn't spoken too much. He got into bed and fell asleep rather quickly.

When he opened his eyes, he was back in that blank world, Evermore pacing back and forth, his tail swishing as he turned.

"E-Evermore, what's wrong?" George asked, concerned.

"There was another dragon, like you and me, in that forest. Your father was leading you into a trap. Mind control, manipulation I don't know, but he's not getting my human." Evermore said growling lowly. George had never seen Evermore this angry.

"Evermore calm down,"

"NO! you don't get it! If it's another dragon I can't protect you! You'd die!"

"You can! I believe in you! You're the strongest dragon I know! Working together we can defeat anything!" George said, placing a hand on Evermore's nose, smiling at him as Evermore huffs, and curls up around George, his tail tripping him, so he falls landing on his soft wings, George smiles and Relaxes.

"Good night Evermore."

"Good night George."
