The rest of the week was a blur at most, since I do the same disgraceful thing every damn day. But then came Saturday.

As I slowly open my eyes, squinting at the light coming in through the window, I expect to hear the god-awful sound of my alarm telling me I have to live another day in hell, when I realize what time it is. Fuck. Just as I practically lunge myself out of bed, I notice that the sound wasn't my alarm at all. My phone was ringing. I scramble for the damned thing and when I get my hands on it, I quickly press accept, not looking at the caller ID. "hello..." I say rubbing my eyes. "Good morning kenma!" A deep voice says cheerfully on the other line. "Good morning... wait" I take the phone from my ear to look at the ID

Kuroo . Kuroo.... Kuroo........ wait, its Saturday?!? Already?

I make a sound like sounds like an "eep" and I hear kuroo laughing. "Finally wake up there ken?" he says teasing me. "you never texted me..." I said to him embarrassed. "yeah, sorry about that, actually that's why I'm calling you now. Bokuto said he can't make it, something about "AGGGASHHIII" and aquarium." Akaashi.. isn't that the pretty setter from fukurodani in high school? I knew they had a thing. "So it'll just be you and me is that alright?" Kuroo continues through my pondering. "mhm, sure kuroo." I say absent mindedly "Ok great! I'll pick you up in....let's say... 20 minutes?" kuroo suggests. "okay" I reply simply. We say goodbye, then I decide to get ready. After I've hopped in the shower, I put on a sweatshirt that's about a size too big, and joggers. Comfortable... then, I decide to sit on the couch and scroll on my phone after internalizing that Kuroo is on his way to pick me up. Looking through my camera roll, I find an old picture of our volleyball team at nekoma. I don't understand how lev could be so tall.. Then I swipe and see a picture of me and Kuroo together. I miss this.... why cant things just go back to the way they were? Right after that thought, I hear a knock at the door, and a text from kuroo.

Kuroo: I'm here.

Here goes nothing... I get up and head towards the front door. I open it to see kuroo wearing a black sweatshirt and blue jeans. He looks good. He smiles at me as I notice I was staring at him. I shake the embarrassment away and walk past him, towards the car. "So, where to?" I asked. "My place. And if you're hungry, I can cook breakfast for us?" he suggested. "Sounds good" I said as I walk towards his car. It's a nice model, but not too expensive. He opens the door for me, and I blush. He starts driving, and we eventually end up at a house different for the one that night. So that must have been bokuto's house... This house, although smaller than the other, is still really nice and you can tell it costed him a pretty penny. I wonder what job he has in order to afford this. "Hey, what job do you have?" I ask as we walk into his house. Kuroo chuckles and answers, "I'm somewhat of a manager for the volleyball association." "Oh... I see." I reply in understanding. The layout of his house is absolutely stunning. I could only dream of having enough money to live in a place like this. I wish I didn't have to be in this line of work in order to survive. I snap out of my thoughts when kuroo askes "so, waffles or pancakes?" he says smiling. "Whatever you want." I say. "Waffles it is then." kuroo says as he moves around in the kitchen and starts cooking for us. I decide to busy myself by sitting on the couch scrolling on my phone. As usual. I look at the time, 8:47 am it says. Only then, I notice how tired I am, and decide rest my eyes. What feels like 5 minutes later, I wake up to someone shaking me lightly. "Wake up ken ken, the waffles are going to get cold.

I get up to the smell of fresh waffles, and head to the table. I sit down with Kuroo and start poking at my food. "So how is it?" Kuroo looks at me eagerly. "Its good..." I blush. This feels so weird... We finish up our food and kuroo asks, "so did you have anything in mind on what you wanna do?" I reply, "but what all can we do?" I say looking down. "Just about anything kitte-n ahem kenma." Kuroo scratches the back of his neck awkwardly. I act like I didn't hear him but I blush like crazy. Not just anyone can call me that with me liking it. "Here, how about we play some video games. You used to be obsessed with those games." Kuroo says, reminiscing. My eyes light up at the thought. I haven't been able to play games lately because I can't afford a console. I nod eagerly and Kuroo smiles. He's always had a nice smile. "Hmpf, charming." I say under my breath.

We then start off with playing Mario kart. Of course, I absolutely demolish him. "C'mon Ken! Lemme win at least once." Kuroo says pleading. "Nope." I say as I stick my tongue out at him. "No fair." He says as he crosses his arms, pouting. "Fine, then let's play a teamwork game." I say as I pull out Kirby's epic yarn. Eventually, it ended up with me carrying him the whole time. "Why do you even have games if you're so bad at them." I tease. "Shut up." Kuroo says as he playfully shoves me. "So, what next?" I ask, finally smiling. This is nice... "hey kenma." Kuroo says with a serious tone. This is not looking good... "I think there's something we both know, but are not talking about." Kuroo says as he puts the controller down. Please don't be- "the day we met again, you were working, correct?" I nod and look at Kuroo sitting next to me. "How did you get yourself in that mess?" Kuroo asks with concern. Thank God it's just that and not... "money" I say quietly. "Hmm?" kuroo asks. "Money." I look him in the eyes. "I need money. As you can see, im not nearly as well off." I say, motioning to his house. "Yeah, but why that? I mean, you could've picked anything else kenma." Kuroo says, with a bit of frustration behind his voice. "Do you really wanna know?" I ask him. Kuroo...

"yes, if you're comfortable, please." Kuroo asks, almost a plead. Don't tell him. You'll just mess everything up. He'll leave, just like everybody else. I try to repress the torment in my mind as I take a deep breath. "Its because.... It's all I know." I confess. "What do you mean?" kuroo presses. "You remember back in high school, how you never came over, and when you asked about my parents i would give you some bullshit excuse?" I deadpan. Kuroo nods. Don't do it kenma. "Well, that's because my mom is a prostitute, and I don't know who my dad is." I say, looking him in the eyes. Kuroo just looks at me with this shocked, yet understanding expression on his face. "There, happy?" I snap. I get up and head towards the front door to get some air. Then, I feel something grab my wrist, and next thing I know, I'm being engulfed in a hug from kuroo. "I sorry kenma- I didn't mean to pry" Kuroo says with sincerity. I'm not sure I can take this...
