"You do understand what you're letting go if you ignore this chance?" JJ asked me. I ignored her and continued organizing my paperwork, separating it into different piles to give to another department. JJ ignored me ignoring her and followed me around the table as I began to pick up the files. "You could lose something amazing."

"Can't lose something you never had." I bit back, walking out of the room. She stayed behind, but Prentiss caught up with me as I was crossing the bullpen.

"Hey, have you talked to Reid yet today?" She asked me ever so subtly. I shook my head and she began to walk with me.

"Emily, I'm not a rule-breaker. You know this, every single thing about me screams it."

"What, so just because you color-code your notes and never got less than an A+ in your life, that means you can't date someone you really like?" She said jokingly, nudging my shoulder. I kept walking.

"Pretty much." I answered succinctly. As I passed the bullpen doors I was free of the jabber, but not for long. Just as the elevator doors were about to close around me, Morgan slipped through for the ride. He leaned up against the wall and looked at me, raising an eyebrow and crossing his arms.

"Seriously? Come on girl, you like him. Admit it."

    "I do." I admitted.

"Then why not ask him out?" He asked with a grin. I shuffled my folders from one arm to the other.

"The FBI forbids fraternization between agents. I'm not going to risk my career just because of a crush."

"It's more than a crush." Morgan insisted, taking a step towards me. "You've been on this team for years now and I've never seen anyone's eyes light up like yours do when Reid walks into the room."

The elevator dinged open for another patron to enter, and I was glad for the distraction until I saw who it was. Reid stepped into the elevator and smiled happily at me. I scowled at nothing in particular and moved aside to make room for him. He glanced from me to Morgan with a concerned look on his face.

"Did I interrupt something?" He asked, his fingers tapping against his book bag. Morgan shrugged and looked pointedly at me.

"I guess not. Unless you have something you'd like to share?"

I shook my head. Reid watched me, his expression of concern growing. He stepped towards me and put a comforting hand on my shoulder, but I had to pull away from his touch. I knew that if I let myself fall for him I wouldn't be able to concentrate, and that wasn't going to be good for criminal profiling.

"When did we start keeping secrets from each other?" He whispered to me, looking at me through his long brown lashes. I stared ahead at the doors, willing them to open. Morgan looked between me and the young man and leaned against the wall once again, watching our conversation unfold.

"I'm not keeping anything a secret, there's just nothing to tell." I whispered back. He nodded and pulled away, staring at the ground.

The elevator doors dinged open and I rushed through, hurrying to the drop point for my files. I passed them off to another agent in the room and when I exited, I pressed my back against the wall and took a deep breath. I pressed my eyes closed and balled my fists, letting the breath escape through my teeth.

"Agent? Are you alright?" Came Hotch's voice from in front of me. I took another calming moment before opening my eyes and looking into the face of my superior, who looked just as stoic as usual. I smiled shortly.
