A Bloody Surprise

Finally, Cayden got the peace he had wanted. The tall boy had surprisingly shut his mouth and was walking silently behind Cayden.

Jamie's relaxed pace came to an abrupt stop causing the boy behind him to bump into him.

"Why'd you-", the tall boy began to whine but silenced as soon as he saw where the shorter boy had pointed.

His face immediately fell in horror and he doubled down, his hand covering his mouth right after as the boy tried with all his might to stay calm and not throw up.

There in front of him was a white cloth bundle, stained with a dark, red liquid, most probably blood, and ripped on the sides. Inside was what seemed to be the bloodied organs of a human, a heart with blood oozing from its multiple tubes, a pair of lungs ripped open, a stomach with stomach juices leaking from and intestines, wrapped to look like a snake.

And next to it, the boy's eyes widened and mouth dropped, a decapitated head.

It was kept upright but the blood gushed, unending from the throat. The skin paler than ever, eyes disappeared into the eye sockets and mouth open giving it a terrified look.

Jamie started, slowly, taking steps towards the bloody bundle, hand reaching out. He needed to examine this.

Marco paled, his body shaking and heart racing.

There was a heavy sense of dread falling upon them. The aura filled with uncertainty, disgust, curiosity. Fear.

As soon as Jamie got close, the bundle vanished.

Poof!

Gone.

No longer there.

No bloody organs. No bloody heads drained of life.

Jamie shook his head.

Was this his imagination?

He looked back to see if the Marco was still there, crouching, hand on his mouth and eyes covered by his hair.

Jamie didn't know what to do.

He knew moving was gonna be bad.

First dark figures, then whispers and then this.

What is going on?

Thud

His thoughts came to an abrupt stop.

He looked back again.

He groaned.

The tall boy had passed out and was laying on the ground, unmoving.

Jamie quickly went to check on him, hopefully he didn't die of the fall or a heart attack or something.

The boy was still breathing.

Jamie let out a sigh of relief.

He was right when he thought this day would go wrong.

He wrapped his arm around the boy and slung one of the boy's arms around his shoulder. He pulled upwards, letting out a grunt at the weight.

He looked back one last time at the place the bundle from hell had spawned.

Taking in a deep breath he walked away.

Once he reached the nurse's office, he laid the unconscious boy down.

As the nurse treated the boy, Jamie had multiple questions going through his mind.
What the hell was that?
Why was that there?
How did it get there?
How did it suddenly vanish?
What to do with Marco?

He had two options.

Tell the boy the truth and scar him with lifelong trauma.

Or... maybe...

Lie.

Have the boy think it was a nightmare, and continue with his life normally.

That plan sounded better.

It had to be an illusion.

Or a sick joke.

It couldn't be real.

Random bloody bundles from hell don't spawn out of nowhere.

So Jamie did what any sane person would do.

He chose to lie.

Now he'd just have to wait for the boy to wake up. And on that note, he'd force himself to sleep. It was probably lack of sleep that caused this. Then the illusions would stop...

Right?
