'Lovely' (Rantaro Amami x Reader Modern AU)

Prologue

So before we get started I just wanted to state a few things about the reader aka you! I would also accept tips on writing. I also do not own danganronpa, nor do I own the characters.

Starting the story now

Y/N's POV
Today was a normal Monday morning, where I did my normal morning routine. First I took a shower, put on my uniform, fixed my H/C H/L hair, applied some mascara and lip gloss. As soon as I finished I was called down stairs by my older brother B/N, signaling that breakfast was ready.
"You excited?" B/N asked while eating his breakfast, "For what?" I ask confused.
"School, obviously." B/N says with a bit of sass.
"Oh, sure..I guess?" I say "It's not like it's my first day." I continue with as much sass as B/N.
"Oh heh, I guess you're right. But can't I still ask?" B/N says sweat dropping.
"I guess you can." I giggle, "But no, not at all, I hate school with a passion, but there is one thing that I like about it-" I say in a serious tone, before being cut off by B/N
"And that is?" B/N says as I glare at him.
"Well I would have gotten to the point if you didn't interrupt me, but as I was saying, the only reason I like school is because of Miu and my friends. They're the reason I like school." I say in a know it all type tone.
"Ok, ok. Jeez you didn't need to go all 'know-it-all' on me" B/N complains.
"Whatever." I said as I checked my phone the time read 7:45 am, and school started at 8:00 am.
"Well B/N I better get going, don't wanna be late." I say packing my textbooks into my bag.
"But it's like a 5 minute walk." B/N says confused.
"I know, I just didn't want to talk to you anymore." I say while trying to keep a straight face.
"HEY! That's not very not Y/N!" B/N says clearly offended by my words.
"Relax. I was joking..kinda" I say, mumbling the last part.
"WHAT WAS THAT?!" B/N angrily shouts.
"N-nothing!" I stutter. "Uh-I'll be going now. Don't want to be late.." I say while rushing out the front door, nervously laughing.
Phew B/N can be quite scary sometimes, I'll admit. If you know the right buttons to push. He'll blow up on you.
"Y/NNN!!" I hear someone call out, I turn around to see Miu running up to me. I stop to give her time to catch up to me, as she starts to get closer she starts to slow down while panting.
"I've been trying to get your attention...for the...past minute, Y/N.." she says while still trying to catch her breath.
"Oh! I'm so sorry, I was off in my own thoughts." I say, while rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly.
"It's fine, at least I have your attention now." Miu says.
"So? Why did you need my attention?" I ask Miu.
She looks over at me.
"Can I not walk with my best friend?" She says,
"Oh no, not like that!!" I say while waving my hands nervously in front of me. " I meant like was there something you were going to tell me..?" I say/ask while continuing to walk to school.
"Oh well there is, but it just now crossed my mind it's about a new student. I heard he's really cute!" She says excitedly.
"Really? I don't remember hearing about this." I say confused.
"Well that's because you almost always fall asleep in every period." Miu says smiling while nudging my elbow gently.
"Oh yeah, I guess your right." I laugh. "So, what about that's new student?" I ask, as we arrive at school.
"Oh, right! Well I heard that it was going to be a guy, and that-Oh look, I think he's over there!!" Miu shouts and starts pointing at a guy with curly green tea colored hair. He's quite good looking, but then again he also kinda looks like a 'playboy'. It also doesn't help his 'playboy' case with all the girls either trying to crowd him, whispering about him, or even trying to flirt with him.
"Wow, he really knows how to get girls." I say interested, but uninterested at the same time.
"Yeahh~" Miu says oddly.
"Um, are you ok?. You seem a bit...odd." I ask
"Huh? Oh, yeah I'm fine..but so is he!!" She says.
"Well you have a point there, but he just got here. You don't even know what he's like, he could be a stalker for all we know, maybe even a psychopath, or worse a playboy." I say partly joking around about the playboy part.
"You're right, maybe not about the playboy part, but we should get to know him at least." Miu says trying to persuade me to give him a chance which I obviously will. Just then the bell rings and students start to rush to their classes, pushing me around causing me to bump into someone and fall.
THUD
"Oh my, I'm so sorry about that." I here someone say, I look up to see a pair of green eyes belonging to, to my surprise the new guy.
"Oh, uh your fine, it wasn't really your fault, it was everybody else's." I say still looking up at him.
"That's true, but you did run into me causing you to fall. So I should at least apologize. Oh, could you also show me where classroom 104 is?" He says while reaching a out towards me. I grab his hand, a light dust of pink on my cheeks, not because I like him but because he's so freaking attractive.
"Thank you, and I can do that. That's actually my classroom." I say while he pulls me up.
"Well then, shall we get going?" He says with a smile, still holding my hand.
"Um yeah, but can you let go of my hand please?" I say while still faintly blushing.
"Oh, I didn't even notice.." He says as he lets go of my hand and starts rubbing he back of his neck while nervously laughing with a hint of pink on his cheeks, though I think it was from embarrassment. We started walking to our classroom in an awkward silence. When we get to the classroom, the bell rings, signaling that class was about to begin. I took my seat next to Miu by the window, while the new guy took a seat somewhere in the back also by a window. As everyone was talking with their friends, our teacher, Mr. Aito, then walks in.
"Good-morning class! Today we have a new student, please introduce yourself if you'd like." Mr. Aito said. I was feeling a bit tired this morning so my eyes were becoming heavier and heavier every time I blinked so I just decided to take a small nap.
No ones gonna care right? Yeah, nobody will mind, not even Mr. Aito. If he doesn't catch me, we're ok.
I then placed my head down on my desk and started to doze off, the last this I heard was: "Hi I'm—"
After that, I was out.

~Timeskip to after school~

Nobody's POV
The time read 3:00 pm as the bell rung, signaling that school was over. Miu and Y/N had just got out of their 8th period and walked together to their lockers to put their textbooks away, and get their bags. After the two of them got their stuff out of their lockers, they soon walk out of school past a huge crowd of girls crowding a familiar boy, but they were to distracted by the girls to notice the familiar boy.
The two girls walk towards the entrance of the school heading towards 'Daylight Delight' aka the cafe they both work at every day at 3:45 pm to 6:30.
"Sooo.." Miu says and looks over at Y/N with a sly grin on her face, while walking along side her friend.
"Sooo?" Y/N says very confused.
"So, why were you and Rantaro almost late for class this morning?" Miu says while smirking.
"Who's Rantaro?" Y/N asks.
"The new guy, who's really, really cute!" Miu explains.
"Oh. I-uh, WAIT NO IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!!" Y/N yells while blushing a bit.
"Mhm, then what is it then?" Miu asks while grinning at Y/N eager to find out why her friend was with the attractive boy, almost being late for class.
"Well after the bell rang for 1st period, you know how the halls get. I was being pushed around by a crowd, and bumped into him, he helped me up and I helped him find his way to the classroom" You say with the blush slowly disappearing while looking down because of embarrassment.
"Hmm..ok, I believe you. Plus you wouldn't do anything like that. Maybe.." Miu says while giggling.
"Yeah..WAIT NO I WOULD NEVER. I BARELY EVEN KNOW THE GUY!" You shout once more.
"Ok, ok! I was just messing around with you. I know you would never." Miu says as the both of them arrive at Daylight Delight.

Y/N's POV
Once me and Miu arrive at the cafe we both make our way to the 'employees only' room, changing into our waitress uniforms. As more people started to come in me and Miu had separated, with helping different groups of people.
There's a lot more people than usual, I wonder why that is. It's mainly a bunch of girls, there's few guys..but more girls.
I then notice a familiar looking curly, green tea colored haired boy.
What was his name? R-randy? No, that's not right, Roger? No. Oh! Rantaro!
I walk over to the cashier, and they tell me to seat him and his guest. I listen to their request and find a place to seat Rantaro and his friend. His friend doesn't look very sociable, he looks kinda shy..and a bit serious, but I find him kinda cute in a way. I'm pretty sure his friend goes to our school as well, I think his name is Shuichi Saihara. As I find a seat for Rantaro and Shuichi, I allow them to sit down and I take their drink orders.
"Hello! Welcome to Daylight Delight. I'm your waitress, Y/N. Are you two ready to order your drinks?"
"Yes we are, right Shuichi?" Rantaro says asking his friend.
So I was right. His name is Shuichi, point for Y/N!
"Oh-uh sure." Shuichi says timidly.
"Ok, but before we order, may I state something?" Rantaro ask.
"Um sure..?" I say while nervously laughing, afraid but eager to hear what he's about to say.
"Ok good, I couldn't keep it in, but you look absolutely lovely in your work uniform." He says while slightly blushing, causing me to blush a bit.
Wh-what? Why did he say that?
