Diagon Alley (Part 2)

Cathleen gets fitted for robes and is able to get the rest of her uniform in about the same time it takes Sirius and the boys to make a withdrawal from Gringotts and check out the new brooms on display and soon they're all reunited back outside Madam Malkin's.

Cathleen looks down at her list, and a smile grows on her face, "Ooh, can we go get my wand next?"

"Sure," Remus says with a smile, "then we'll have to go get your books." He notes that Flourish and Blott's is right next to the robe shop but if she wants to get the wand next that's what they'll do.

And so the family of six all head to the wand shop. "Do you want either one of us to go in with you?" Sirius asks as they approach the wand shop.

Cathleen shakes her head, "I can do it alone."

And so she walks into Ollivander's while her family waits outside.

Cathleen can hear somebody moving around in the back behind a shelf of wands. "Hello?" She calls out shyly looking towards the window where her family is waiting, her dads are both smiling encouragingly, Ariella is watching intently, and Marcus and Harry are distracted by the nearby shops.

"One moment," a voice yells from the back. Then she hears more movement and an older man appears from behind a shelf. "Cathleen I presume?" He asks approaching her.

She nods, not saying anything. Mr. Ollivander cracks a smile and says, "Yes well, we'll find the perfect wand for you." He waves his wand and suddenly there are tape measures at her side that go about measuring her, just like at Madam Malkin's.

Then he's off behind the same shelf as before, the tape measure still at work. "That's enough," he yells and she wonders for a moment if he's talking to her but then the tape measure stops. He comes back quickly with a wand though. "Try this one, it's Ash, dragon heartstring, 10 inches, just give it a whirl."

She takes the wand hesitantly and waves it. Nothing happens and he snatches it back curiously and is off to grab another wand. He comes back smiling, "Here, Cedar, Phoenix feather, 11 ½ inches, try it."

She takes the wand and gives it a whirl feeling very foolish before he takes that one back too. "That's alright, we'll figure it out," he says, climbing his ladder to pull a wand from the top shelf.

"Here, it's Rowan, 12 ¼ inches, dragon heartstring." She takes the wand with a sour look on her face and waves it. Ollivander shakes his head and takes it back before a look of brilliance overtakes his face. "I know just which one you need."

Cathleen is not too sure if he's right but still she waits for him to return, "I think I've found it, Cypress, unicorn hair, 11 ¼ inches."

He hands it to her with a smile and immediately she feels connected to the wand, she waves it and several colorful sparks fly out. She's in awe.

Ollivander nods approvingly, "You know, your dad has a very similar wand, same wood, same core."

"Which one?" She asks, looking from her wand up to him.

He laughs, "Ah, Remus, it's quite evident you've got a similar personality to him. Alas, Sirius' wand is Dogwood and I believe your biological father got his wand at Gregorovitch's wand shop."

She nods, "Interesting, well thank you Mr. Ollivander, how much is it?"

So she pays him and then joins her family outside. They pull her into hugs. Sirius immediately asks what type of wand she got? She smiles as she tells them and Remus gets a look of pride on his face. Her younger siblings ask what it felt like finding her wand. She gushes to them saying it's the most amazing feeling in the world and they make their way to the Flourish and Blott's.

"Okay, I need The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1. A History of Magic, Magical Theory, A Beginners Guide to Transfiguration, One Thous-"

"How about we find all of those first, then you can tell us the rest," Sirius says with a laugh.

She frowns at the list before looking up, "That's fair, it is a lot of books."

And so they find her copies of those books as well the four others she needs, One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi, Magical Drafts and Potions, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection.

Lastly they have to get her other equipment, including a star chart, telescope, inkpot and quills, a cauldron, a set of brass scales and crystal phials. After all this they're ready to head home.
