All I want is for her to notice me. I notice her everyday, the way she walks into Timmies a few minutes after I do, the way she orders her daily Iced Capp and sesame seed bagel, the way sits down at the same booth beside the window every morning. And everyday I'm too chicken to talk to her. Tell her my name. Compliment her. Ask her out. Even just take her order. Of course, I do all of these things in my head. Hi, I'm Charlie. Sorry to bother you, but before you order I wanted to say I really like your boots. No problem! By the way, would you like to get coffee together sometime? Cool! I'll give you my number...
"Hello?! I said I'd like a small French Vanilla. Pick up the pace!" I look up to see a middle aged woman snapping in my face. Gross. "Yes Ma'am." I sigh and turn to make the coffee. I hear her son asking for a treat but she rudely ignores him. The woman pays and practically yanks the coffee out of my hands, spilling it all over my top. She snarls and walks out, nose up in the air. Her son waves goodbye to me sadly and walks out after his mother. Next time I see him, I'll have to give him a few Timbits, on me. I turn to pat down my shirt when the door chimes go off. There she is.
I run to the back to find another employee to take her order. I find everyone in the back gossiping. I run up to them, almost slipping on a spilled coffee. Wonderful. "Are you guys really gossiping right now? Come on! We have customers." They all groan. Now, I'm not the type of coworker to inflict work, but I'm too chicken to talk to her right now. Or ever. "Now, I'll take the Drive Thru. Carlos, can you get orders?" Carlos gives me a knowing, almost haunting grin. "She's here, Isn't she?" I glare at him to shut up but he's already caught everyone's attention. They all run over excitedly. "Who's here?" "Charlie's got a girlfriend! Charlie's got a girlfriend!" I can see her waiting patiently for someone to take her order. I shut them up and beg someone else to take her order. They refuse, thanks to Carlos. "She'll never know who you are if she never sees you!". I sigh. He's right... I turn to walk over, but then stop and turn back to Carlos. "But what if she's straight? Oh God, she might not even be into women!" Carlos shrugs. "There's only one way to find out!"
