"Are you alright?"

I give a start, Josh looks at me with a soft frown on his features.

"Hmm?" I reply clumsily. "I'm fine, yeah. Didn't sleep well last night, that's all..."

"I know you're worried about the AV Club," He shifts in his place awkwardly. "I'm not doing this to piss you off, I really am trying my best to keep us safe..."

I want to tell him that no matter what he tries there is a whole group of rich kids actively hunting us down, but I can't tell him without revealing that I went out of my way to disobey his orders.

It's been two days since I talked to Mavis, she's supposed to come at some point today, and I'm starting to feel anxious. Josh hasn't left my side at all and I have the feeling that he's doing it on purpose.

"I'll see you in a minute," I stand up, Josh grabs my wrist before I can actually leave, he's gentle about it, but I grow irritated anyway.

"Where are you going?"

"Do I have to ask for permission to go pee?" I retort roughly, then immediately regret it. "Sorry... I'm just really tired... I didn't mean—"

"It's okay," He gives me a hesitant look, but lets go of my wrist. "You should have a nap afterwards..."

"Yeah, maybe."

I have no choice but to actually go to the bathroom since I feel his eyes following me as I move. It was cute at first, him looking after me, making sure I'm safe, but it's starting to get annoying. Josh acts as if I were a reckless child when all I want to do is to make sure our home's safe, I'm no longer running away from confrontations.

I find Wesley on my way out, it's been so long since we've had time to talk so I'm genuinely happy to see him. This place feels so small with all these new people and yet I never run into my friends.

"Y/N," He eyes me up and down and raises a brow. "Not to offend or anything but you starting to look like a Ghoulie— all good?"

My mouth opens to reply with 'Sure!' but something completely different ends up leaving it.

"I know who is kidnapping the kids. I followed them."

Wesley looks at me with wide eyes and backs away.

"Oh no— oh, HELL NO!" He turns his back to me. "I am NOT participating in this! Last time we were vanished from the mall, I'm not giving Josh a new reason to do it again!"

"What are you talking about?"

"You're about to ask me to lie!" He turns back around, pointing an accusing finger at me. "You, missy let's-not-fight only to be the one that goes out of her way to start a war!"

"I don't want to start a war!"

"The point is that you lied to Josh, and you know he hates that," Wesley scowls at me. "And I can't say I don't back him up on this one, you're being irrational, Y/N. Stop playing the hero!"

"I'm not! These rich kids are dangerous and no matter how peaceful we are they'll try to kill us anyway!"

"Let 'em come to us!" He opens his arms wide. "Last time someone tried to get rid of us he ended up melting!"

"Last time our enemies didn't have actual guns," I say grimly. "These are mafia kids, Wes, they're used to brutality and murder."

"You think living with Turbo was a picnic?" He raises a brow. "Man, get out of my way, I ain't helping you..."

"You're just scared Josh will kick you out," I scoff as I walk past him.

"Yeah I am, and you may not fear him because you two are having sexy times—"
