We're sitting in the cafeteria, I'm holding my phone and letting the podcast play for everyone to hear, when it ends, there's a heavy silence surrounding us.
"So..." I say, pausing the recording. "When are we leaving?"
"What?"
"When are we leaving to go search for these kids?" I repeat. No one looks at me in the eye.
"Oh my god," I gape, "you're not going to look for them!"
"Y/N..." Wesley starts, but I interrupt him.
"These kids have no weapons, no army. They've been surviving out of sheer luck and truces with some minor tribes– And they watched after us!"
"They were watching us, there's a difference," Josh points out.
"So? They never tried to attack us, all they wanted was to keep us all updated on everyone's whereabouts, they kept us connected–"
"Even if we wanted to save those kids, Y/N," Angelica said, "we don't know where they are or who's keeping them captive."
"Well, how many kids in suits do you know? They can't be that hard to find..."
"Yeah? How many kids in suits have you seen so far?" Wesley raised a brow.
I'm about to reply when I realize he's right, I haven't seen anyone wearing a suit in months, I mean we wore suits and dresses during our fake prom, but that was totally different.
"It's too dangerous, Y/N," Alex shakes his head, "we just won a fight against Burr, we can't ask the kids to fight with us against someone we don't even know."
"But they know us!" I exclaim. "Didn't you hear the podcast? They're using the AV club to check our blind spots and keep us all in places where we can be seen– Do you really think there's quicksand dowtown?"
"They haven't tried to attack us anyway," KJ interferes, "for all we know, they may be targetting the jocks, and that's out of our jurisdiction."
"Oh, fuck off KJ," I groan, "you're only saying that because you're a sneaky little shit that will hide in the background to see who's the best side to bet your money on."
"First of all, I don't have any money, I do value my life," KJ glares at me, "and what you're trying to do is a dumbass move, these kids could be pretending, they could be faking their kindnapping or something–"
"This was recorded five days ago!" I say loudly. "No one has heard of them since!"
"I won't do it," KJ stands up and walks away.
I look around, everyone look just as disinterested as her and that drives me up the wall, how can they be so stupid?
"Fine," I walk away as well.
"Y/N, where are you going?" Josh is quick to follow me.
"If you won't help me, that's okay. I'll do it."
"What?"
"I'll go look for those kids. They don't deserve to die."
"Y/N, wait– Hold on!" He grabs my wrist and turns me around. "Stop and think this through. They said they were surrounded. You could die!"
"Then come with me!"
'One more day we'll spend together
Lay your eyes, look up upon me for the better
Oh, I know I'm worse for weather
But my love, I won't give up'"What?" He blinks in confusion, "Y/N, are you serious? Are you hearing yourself? Alex is right, we just won a war, we can't lose more people."
"No one said that," I put my hands on his shoulders to ease him. "Josh, a few months ago I was running from one place to the other, alone, with no army. That could've been me, imagine if I had gotten kidnap before you could find me, then none of this would be true."
