THE HOGWARTS LIBRARY ─ a place of calm, quiet contemplation, a place to read or write in silence, a place devoted to peaceful concentration and focus. Unfortunately, the Hogwarts library had been invaded by an opposing force, who was on a mission to disobey the rules and to disrupt the status quo and Heidi's peace alike.

Oliver circled another name. "I've never seen her play. You don't want that in a team ─ you need to know your people, inside and out." He had previously been flying laps around the quidditch pitch, and seemed to think he still had to shout to be heard.

"Here's a thought," Heidi said, still scribbling in her notebook. "Wait one more day, and pick your team at the actual quidditch tryouts."

"I'm actually really disappointed Bell's stepping down," Oliver said, ignoring her. "Just had to go and fall off her garage roof. Honestly, you can't trust anyone these days." He trailed off, staring blankly at the piece of parchment covered in names before him.

"Ollie?" Heidi stared at him. "You alright?"

His head shot back up. "Class." He turned and stared out the window. "Fucking dreich out there."

Heidi snorted, turning a page and dipping her quill into her inkwell. "You sound like Mum. With added swearing, I guess."

"No, I mean for quidditch tomorrow. It might rain." He sighed, before placing his quill flat on the table and turning to face Heidi head-on. "Heidi, I am going to speak to you very vaguely about a problem that I have, and you cannot ask me any questions or details about it."

"That is my ideal conversation, aside from no conversation, but that feels unlikely."

"Are you getting snarky with me? Heidi, this is an issue!"

Giggling erupted from the table adjacent to theirs ─ three first year girls who had been previously casting furtive glances in their direction obviously found something funny. Heidi tried not to glare at them, instead focusing back on her notebook. "Alright, keep your head on."

"What do you do when you maybe like your friend? As in, you wouldn't be mad if you went on a date with her?" Oliver sank down slightly in his seat as Heidi whipped her head around. "I'm asking for Craig."

Heidi snickered ─ Oliver had a habit of blaming things on his fellow pupil, whose last name Heidi could never remember. "Tell Craig that he should just ask her out."
