Chapter oneThe rising sun beamed through any opening it could to find its way into George's room. It looked peaceful, the only movement being the brits breathing and occasional tossing in his sleep.
*BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!*
The sudden noise filled the room, almost immediately waking George.
"Damnit.." the brunet groaned, hurling his arm toward the annoying sound, attempting to turn it off. His endeavor failed terribly, forcing George to eventually sit up. His eyes shot wide as soon as they landed on the clock. It read 5:37. The boy cursed under his breath once more, quickly standing up and darting for the bathroom. George stared into the mirror, studying his face. He looked at everything from his dark brown hair, which had been slightly messed up from sleeping, to the big bags whom had laid under his eyes, only to notice that they were now incredibly visible due to the lighting of the room.
After some time, George soon broke out of the trance, going back to his surprisingly rapid pace of getting ready. He quickly washed his face, which was followed by brushing his hair and teeth. The boy grabbed some clean clothes and changed rather swiftly. He wore a light blue shirt, with black sweatpants, deciding to tie a black jacket around his waist. George grasped onto a suitcase that had been laying next to his bed, his phone and Airpods occupying his other hand. the moment he deemed himself ready, the brit was out the door, a smile sneaking onto his face as he booked it down the hallway of the apartment complex.
Today was moving day.
George opened the door, slightly shivering as the Brighton air hit him, only causing the boy to walk faster to his Uber. He quickly got in, placing the suitcase below his feet. George greeted the kind lady, buckling his seatbelt not long after. His hands subconsciously opening up the Airpods case, quietly slipping them into his ears. The brunet turned on his phone, and pressed on Spotify, scrolling past a couple songs before pressing one of his recent playlist.
To his surprise, 45 minutes flew by quick, and before he knew it he was stepping out of the black sedan. George thanked the driver with a small, tired smile, and handed her an extra couple pounds before she drove off. He turned around slowly, the ridiculously big airport finally coming into his view. An unhealthy amount of anxiety shot through his veins as he took small strides toward the automatic sliding doors. Sure, he had flown by himself before, but never across the ocean. He was petrified, to say the least, but that wasn't a good enough excuse to dip. So instead he turned the volume on his phone to the max, and used the music to shove down the nauseous feeling in his stomach. Checking in was pretty easy thanks to the self check-in stations that had been installed due to the pandemic, but passing through security was a bit of a nuisance considering the long line that, according to George, had formed out of no where. He had just gotten finished getting cleared by the scanner when the speaker, which was way too loud in his opinion, had an announcement to make.
"Gate D69 will now be boarding. Once again gate D69 is now boarding. Thank you,"
Not only was George now forced to practically run through across half the airport to get to his gate, but the terminal was packed with people. It was a good thing he only had one suitcase with him, or else he might've just quit right then and there. He booked it through the jungle of people, trying his best to weave in and out out of the overwhelming amount of people without hitting them with the trailing luggage behind him.
God must've been in his favor today because the brit had miraculously made it with a little less than two minutes to spare. George let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding as he boarded the plane, trying to fix his hair before he walked into the aisle. He found his row, which was thankfully empty, and slid all the way to the window seat, making sure to buckle up. Time began to slow, but soon enough the seatbelt icon above him lit up, and the landscape on the other side of the window began to move.
I was going to America.
