I have two of the requested thingies done and I have four left to do so I'm going to write a few smaller chapters until I've finished them. Also EIGHT THOUSAND READS. This chapter is about Tony's internal struggle about caring for Peter and it's really bad sorry. The title is "you cant care about him deeply" just incase it's too long.

Tony Stark had a nickname for everyone. When Peter came into his life he had to write a list.

At first he started simple. Make fun of him in a cool sarcastic but slightly riddle like way.

"UNDEROOS!"

It was simple and although the young teen hadn't understood his reference until weeks later, it had an impact and it became 'their thing's.

You can't care about him deeply. You just have to drop him home to his aunt.

Then of course there was the simple:

"Kid"

The Avengers had drama, trauma and a while other ballgame of "adult" problems, so Peter was a nice escape. He made them watch star wars and have weekly movie night to bond with eachother. Maybe it was the child-like innocence that his age and adorable demeanor portrayed him to be. Or it could be because he was Tony's kid.

He tried to to think to much, not wanting to justify the idea that he thought of a curly haired teen as a son.

Don't care about him deeply. You cant go to his decathlon competitions or give him a hug when he got an A.

When he first found out about the kid swinging day and night,  saving hundreds was exactly that, a kid, he decided that the first encoumres would be akward  enough as it was.

Oh the possibilities were endless. He didnt like using these names often, not ea ting Peter to think he was worth any less than any other Avenger on the team.

Dont care about him deeply. Just show him his room in the tower and whisper 'goodnight' . You cant tuck him in yet.

He decided to go for more mental attributes.

He learned what to say and what not to say.

Nerd was on the table but it had no impact. It elicits a friendly giggle off the spider themed hero so it is worth it.

You cant care about him deeply because one day he'll leave you. He will become his own person and forget about you. You'll be that one pebble that's stuck in his shoe.

Smart-ass was his favourite because he could smirk and Peter would laugh with his head slightly tilted backwards. He seemed so innocent and free of what he suffered through.

Parker wasnt a banned word per say, but he only used it when Peter did something wrong, which although is rarely, it makes Peter upset and more guilty than the average person would be.

Any star wars reference was made for bonding nights, not for lab days. They just made him happy.

You can't care about him deeply. Sometime you're going to wipe the peace away with a single word.

And the innocence and happiness can become evanesce.

It was right after the teen had solved the head interns equation. The team had been having difficulties for weeks but Peter cracked it in under seven minutes. Tony was so proud of him. His- no. Peter was so smart, so he didn't think. He just said it.

"Good job Einstein"

There was no smile, or giggle or reaction. The usual expressive face was blank and void of ang emotions that could give off his thoughts.

And the teen left, for almost two whole weeks.

May told him not to worry. That the name had just brought up some bad memories.

Tony checked his school records and found the last week and a half of absences.

The team discussed it and unanimously agreed that the name was banned. Unless someone specifically said "the scientist, Albert Einstein"
The word was banned ok the communal level.

He text May for any words that may trigger Peter. Just incase.

She told them there was others but they wouldnt come up even in unnatural conversations.

You cant care about him deeply. You cant take away his suffering and pain. You cant drive to his apartment and force him to come back to work.
So when Peter came back to work some posters had been taken down in the lab as Tony realised theh probably bothered him (confirmed when Peter thanked him for taking down the sheets)

They had Pizza the night he was at the tower. Aunt May said he could stay over for the weekend so he could make the Avengers watch 'The Amazing World of Gumball'.

That night Peter was asleep on the couch, his head on Tony's knees and a blanket draped over his body.

Tony stared down at the teen. He was innocent and childlike again. He was peaceful in his slumber and it almost made the scientist want to cry. He picked up the boy and carried him to his room down the hall. He placed him on the bed and pulled his duvet up to his chin and watched as Peter snuggled into the covers and let out a content sigh.

"I care about you deeply kid".
