Werewolves
Werewolves are solitary creatures that hunt at night and reign in large forests and mountainous areas. Most have no control of their inner wolves and try to shift only when they can't stop themselves; usually the full moon. Naturally they shy away from civilization and rarely hunt in packs. A werewolf bite could turn you into a werewolf but most are werewolves because it's hereditary.
Typically they hunt vampires and natural instinct to obey witches, specifically charmers.
In their human forms, werewolves look no different than humans, though a wolf blood can smell the difference between the two. Dogs and wild animals tend to shy away from werewolves. Simply due to the nature of a werewolf, a werewolf can grow up and never know what they are.Wolf bloods
Wolf bloods usually live in packs in the woods (different packs have eyes that flicker different colors. For example the Nightsong pack's eyes flicker gold while the Bloodfang pack's eyes flicker dark blue). Some choose to live amongst humans but it is a hard life. Unlike werewolves, they can retain control of themselves while in their wolf forms, though it is harder during the full moon. Wolf bloods are also usually hereditary wolves, but occasionally you'll find a wolf blood that was turned into one by a witch.
Most wolf bloods are raised and/or trained to hunt vampires, and unlike werewolves they don't have the same instinct to obey witches.
In their human forms, wolf bloods have wolf ears atop their heads and a fluffy tail sprouting from their spines. They have a technique they can use to hide both however, to blend in with humans. Dogs either bark a lot at wolf bloods or are the best of friends with them.Witches
There are two types of witches, charmers and siphoners. charmers have their own natural energy, called mana, that they use for spells. They usually live in covens or in the city. These are the type of witches that created wolfbloods, werewolves, and vampires.
Siphoners don't have natural mana, so they steal it from others. Hence 'Siphoners', they steal others' mana. Humans don't have much mana, but that's to be expected. However that creates a sort of predatory preference for creature that do have mana. Wolfbloods have a fair amount, werewolves have more than wolfbloods. Vampires are essentially the blood bank of the mana community since that's pretty much the only thing keeping them alive. However, if too much mana is siphoned from any creature, they could die."What happens to the ones that get caught..?" I asked softly.
Hawke didn't respond for a few moments.
"It depends on how the siphoners treat them honestly. In most cases wolves get stuck in lunar psycosis," he didn't stop to explain what that was, "or go feral. Vampires usually get so much sucked out of them that they die a second time. Since all supernaturals rely on magical energy -other than siphoners- to live, I can imagine a lot of them end up dying."
He paused for another moment.
"And then on the off chance they escape, they're never allowed to forget what happened; what they heard, saw, or felt. So it's like they never really escaped in the first place."
He glanced down at his foot and then back up at me.
"ah, sorry. I didn't mean to sound creepy there." He chuckles awkwardly.
"No no, it's ok!" I promised. "It's the truth after all."
He nodded, looking down at his drawings.- Kari Meets Hawke (Kari's POV)
Vampires
Vampires look like average humans on the outside. On the inside they have fangs and cold hearts and need to drink blood to survive. At least, two of those things is correct, the other one is a myth. Popularly, vampires are iconic for their lack of empathy in human societies, when in fact vampires are pretty much just very traumatized humans. I mean, you would be too if you'd just died. However these myths didn't originate from nowhere. Vampires have a sort of switch, called the 'humanity switch', they can turn off all of their emotions via this technique. Most of them that do never turn it back on, some that do realize that they entirely forgot how to interact with others peaceably. Life gets very awkward for them.
One such OC of mine (Elizabeth) was raised by some older OC's of mine but they had to leave her in human care to protect her from hunters. She was dropped off at an orphanage and turned off her humanity switch to protect herself from feeling abandoned ("... I was in so much pain I turned it off actually, my emotions were so loud... I just didn't want to listen to that."). She realized that when she turned it on it was harder to be a human again.
Vampires can turn into bats and are pretty much allergic to vervain and lycanthrope bites.(Vampires don't have pointy ears but I love this art and wanted to support my fellow Doodle Club member >w< #ifyouknowyouknow
There are alot more supernatural types but this is all you need to know for now to enjoy the book.
Please feel free to leave me some feedback! I'll have chapter 1 out soon!!! >~< bear with me here!!!!
