"I'm not planning anything," Wolf immediately replied, stepping back, and raising his hands in innocence.
"Says the guy who has literally all of my dad's lost personal possessions," Fox replied with a sharp, biting tone. "Wolf, how could you do this? Why?"
"Reasons you'll never come to understand, Fox!" Wolf shouted back, now angry instead of feigning any defenselessness.
"You've been hiding for far too long, in more ways than one," McCloud huffed, and took a framed photo, grasping it. "You need to explain yourself. What you feel about my dad, and how you even got these in the FIRST place!""No," Wolf turned his head and said, not wishing to face who he worst feared would come to know the truth, especially now.
"Then I'm gonna have to complicate this deal a little," the vulpine captain now gritted, raising a brow of his own. "You're gonna have to tell me what really went on between you two, or else you'll still be a wanted criminal under Cornerian law."
"WHAT? No," O'Donnell gasped.
"There's gotta be some special charge for stealing and keeping the personal and national treasures of the most famous modern Cornerian space pilot," Fox explained.
"They were not stolen, they were gifted," Wolf excused.
"Explain yourself, then, and I'll change my mind," McCloud offered."I don't think I should have to. Hell, maybe your daddy wanted to keep some things to himself, too," O'Donnell spat.
"You shut your mangy trap, Wolf," Fox began to boil, "or refer to my father with respect."
"I smell some daddy issues..." the wolf sneered.
"No shit. How in the world would you not?" Fox turned a certain shade of red as he ranted. "But my point is that those are not fucking yours, so you'd better speak up as to how you got them before I consider you my nemesis again!"Wolf now grew more serious as he began to take a more warning tone. "Fox, you need to take it down a—"
"TAKE IT DOWN? I'll take you down you sonova—" he exasperatedly shouted, then grumbled, then raised his fist. Wolf immediately caught his wrist, and held it tight, and the two began to wrangle."DAMN YOU!" the fox yowled, advancing quickly.
"Listen to me— for a moment, Fox— nngh," O'Donnell groaned. Fox may have been eager and young, but Wolf so decisively had the better muscle of the two, and pushed the vulpine down, pinning him there. Overcome, Fox heaved, feeling his fiery assault turn so unexpectedly quickly to defeat. He gnashed his teeth a few times, and groaned, as Wolf loomed over him, before giving that last exhale of acceptance."I guess we know who'd have won between us if it came down to hand-to-hand," Wolf smirked, as he looked down.
"Go to hell," McCloud gently replied, his loathing suddenly blending with a rush of blood to the place he needed it least."I'll tell you where I got all this, if you could have the patience," Wolf sighed. "It was in a preservation facility during the attack on Corneria, and Androssian forces relayed it back to me at my personal request, once I'd heard what they'd taken. I only wanted to protect what I know should be protected."
"Yeah, because you've got a thing for my dad," Fox rolled his eyes. "That much is crystal clear."
"Is that so bad of a thing if it meant I was the only one who cared enough for his uniform to not be recycled? Here, take them, they're yours!" the wolf ruffed, taking the relevant clothes out of the closet and putting the neat, folded pile of them onto Fox's lap."So what's the dye for, then?" he asked.
Wolf stayed silent to that.
"Do you idolize my dad so much that you dress up like him?" McCloud growled. "Or what?"
Still silent, O'Donnell chose not to admit what was already said of him.
"...Fuck you," the fox got up, and shuffled off with these hushed yet audible words, his father's clothes underneath his arm.—
After this heated yet consequence-less confrontation, Wolf had taken a moment to sleep, fumbling out of what little clothes he wore and getting into the sheets. He grumbled and shifted in the plain briefs he chose to wear to bed, but eventually calmed himself down enough to contemplate on what had just happened. It was good... It was good that Fox didn't know the truth, and good that he assumed the least. Wolf had a crush on James, and/or one of those extreme stanning predispositions, and this was just the motive behind this lingering preservation of his belongings. He was glad, even, that Fox made up that clever lie for him!
