Living in a world where the preternatural has been 'out of the closet' in a matter of speaking, for more than 60 years sounds all good and all for those who are more than human.

But there are still those that fight against the preternatural.

Anti this and Anti that groups concerning those of us that are anything but completely human.

The biggest and most known Anti group is the Church of Enlightenment.

How do i know this?

Because I'm not blind, that's how.
However, that's not the main reason.

You see my name is Kiara (kee-ar-ah) Reeds, and I am a true shape shifter.

I am not tied to the moon like your normal Were. Though if I don't change on a some what regular bases then i start to get a bit short tempered.

I have always been a Shape Shifter, not many people know that about me.

It's genetic meaning that the shifter gene has to be in your bloodline some where.

Despite popular fiction which has some stuff right, most of it is B.S. Though, I'll get to that later.

For now I'll tell you a little about me.

My father died while my mother was pregnant with me.

My mother loved him very much, but he was only human and didn't survive the car accident that took his life.

His death left my mother very upset.

Then I was born, and things just got worst.

I shifted for the first time when I was only six months old. My mother didn't know what to do with me. She was completely out of her element. She was my mother though and she did the best she knew how.

She waited until I was two years old, then she couldn't take take it anymore. She couldn't stand to have a shape shifter as a daughter. I didn't fit in to her ideal life.

Then she remembered that my father had two brothers that had both contracted Lycanthropy.

So she called up my uncles and persuaded them to take me into their home.

My uncles were both proclaimed bachelors at the time. Even so that didn't stop them from taking me in.

They raised me as normal as possible.

I went to a public school, attended dance classes, I had friends and we had the occasional sleep over.

My uncles made sure that no one knew that I was a Shifter, not even the preternatural world knew what I was.

In addition to being a shifter, I inherited a couple abilities. One of those abilities allowed me to hide my shifter side from others when I wanted to.

Living with the secret of what I am has not always been easy.

But having the secret known just may prove to be life threatening.

Follow along with Kiara as she navigates through betrayal, friendships, family, hard choices, self discovery, and doing so with an arsenal of sarcasm always at the ready.
