«Suddenly there was silence in the waiting room. The nobles devoted themselves to the passage of a man as round as a barrel who walked with a hurried step and an immense smile on his lips. From the black uniform with gold braids Ofelia deduced that it was the... Heck, this cat won't stop meowing!»
y/n swore and closed the book, using the index finger of her right hand not to lose the page.
Chrollo, lying untidily on the bed next to the chair where the girl was sitting, burst out laughing vivaciously and slipped his hand on the back of the cat that continued to meow on his chest.
It was Saturday, and like every Saturday Chrollo had asked her to read for him in his room. There was not a time that y/n refused.
The girl sighed and shifted her gaze to her best friend, intent on cuddling the cat to make him stop crying.
She couldn't help but smile as she watched Chrollo. She knew his features perfectly, there was not a thing about him that she did not know better than her pockets. Starting with his mysterious dark eyes, so enchanting... which were now staring at her.
«Did you hear what I told you? My mother calls us to help her set the dinner table»
y/n nodded awkwardly and got out of bed as quickly as possible, followed by Chrollo who continued to stare at her with a doubtful expression on his face. She had to stop staring at people like that or they would have thought she was crazy.
Her reputation was certainly not the best; she didn't need it to get any worse.
The raven haired boy led her into the kitchen, where a tall woman with long black hair was waiting for them.
«Get a move on. Did you want me to set the table by myself?»
She scolded them with her usual stern air. Chrollo's mother was the strongest woman y/n knew. She was brave, independent... And she loved her.
She was practically like a second mom to her.But that didn't mean she saw Chrollo as a brother...
The girl had had a crush on him for years now. She had loved him since as a child he put patches on her peeled knees and walked hand in hand with her in the garden and she still loved him today when he was no longer a child.
She loved everything about him. From his obsession with books to that strange cat he had adopted when he was twelve.
y/n looked up at the clock hanging on the wall as she and Chrollo positioned themselves on opposite sides of the table. It was almost dinner time.
She had already decided: tonight would be the night she would confess her feelings to the boy.
She had waited too long and couldn't take it anymore.«Faster you two! Do you want to eat or not?»
y/n realized only in that instant that Chrollo too had stopped ... he had stopped to stare at her. Again.
With a smile on her lips and her heart pounding faster in her chest she hurried to finish her work.

Chrollo threw himself heavily on the bed and let out a sigh of relief as his back touched the mattress. He looked up at his best friend and smiled lovingly at her.«I'm full,» he whispered.
«Me too... I love the chicken your mother cooks,» she replied, sitting down on the bed next to him.
Chrollo looked at her for a moment before grabbing her arm and pulling her beside him.
y/n felt butterflies in her stomach when she found herself lying only a few inches away from him.
This. This was the perfect time.
«...do you know what else I love?» she asked hesitantly.
Chrollo turned to her, giving her all his attention and y/n tried to ignore the lump that had formed in her throat. But just as she was about to speak she heard the ringing of the bell and Mrs Lucilfer ordering Chrollo to go and open the door.
She watched him walk slowly out of the room, a little disappointed by this sudden interruption.
She was going to tell him. What would have happened then?
Would Chrollo refuse her? Or would he kiss her as she always fantasized before going to sleep?Well, it was useless to think about it now.
With a sigh she began to stare at the ceiling waiting for Chrollo to return. There was no point in telling him once he was back.
First of all because the magic of the moment had now been broken... And then Chrollo wasn't coming back. Instead she heard more voices coming from the corridor.
Her curiosity overwhelmed her mental resistance, so she decided to get up and go see what was going on.
When she got to the front door, she found Chrollo talking to two boys their age, but they were slightly taller than him.One had long black hair that brushed his back and pale skin like a vampire's; the other had eye-catching red hair and strange symbols drawn on his cheeks.
The redhead noticed her before Chrollo and smiled mischievously.
There was something macabre in his smile that made the girl shiver.y/n looked at Chrollo questioningly until he turned to her and smiled at her. As always, his smile was enough to calm her down and distract her from everything else.
«Sorry, y/n... I forgot to tell you that I invited two friends to sleep here as well. I thought it would be fun to have a sleepover.»
The girl continued to stare at the two strange individuals with evident curiosity, until Chrollo made her turn towards him again.
«We'll postpone the introductions until later. Go get changed so afterwards we can all watch a movie together, okay?» he asked gently.
y/n nodded slowly before walking away towards the end of the corridor.
Her plans for the night had been officially blown away by the arrival of two strangers.
