Damon sat on a barstool in a seedy bar on the outskirts of Mystic Falls nursing a glass of mediocre bourbon. It was a quiet, rundown, hole in the wall that wasn’t frequented by too many people. Mostly just cheating spouses looking to find a place far enough away from home so they wouldn’t get caught. Its not so great reputation also made it the perfect spot for vampires like himself to feast on unsuspecting victims.
Damon wasn’t there for any of that though. He just needed a place where he could find some peace. The bar itself was of no real importance. It was the location of the bar that Damon coveted. It was close to home, but far enough away that nobody would come looking for him and after the events of the past few days, being alone is just what he needed.
He was trying to drown his thoughts with booze, but the chaos that surrounded his life was weighing heavy on him, playing over and over again in his mind like a broken record from hell. Damon wasn’t usually the type to let things bother him, but recently it felt like he never got a break. Something was always happening to disrupt his life.
Yesterday it was him and Elena trying to trap Stefan, so they could try to dry him out and turn him back into some semblance of his better self. Today it was pissed off, vengeful ghosts running rampant all over Mystic Falls. Fortunately for them, they just happen to know a witch from one of the most powerful witch blood lines throughout history.
The green eyed beauty had sent all their unwanted guests back to the other side where they belonged. It had been pure luck that she hadn’t done it until after the corporeal form of Mason Lockwood had taken Damon to an underground tunnel that might hold the answers to how to defeat Klaus and his original pain in the ass of a sister. The only problem is that Damon can’t seem to enter the area that actually has the answers. Just another annoyance to add to the ever growing list.
Another good thing that had come from the day was Stefan’s best friend Lexi showing up while she was corporeal to help dry Stefan out. She had knocked him out and tied him up before he knew what was happening. As such was their normal routine for when she was trying to wean him off of human blood. Damon didn’t think it was going to work this time, but he was open to trying anything if it meant he could have his brooding brother back.
Then finally there was Bonnie, his pretty little witch. The only person that was capable of making him forget about all of his problems, even if only for a short while. They had only seen each other once the entire day, but she had been trying so hard to stay away from him the last few days since she was still mad at him, that even though their exchange wasn’t the happy experience he had hoped for, he was still glad to just see her. Even if only for a few short moments.
Earlier that dayDamon drove through the streets of Mystic Falls at a speed higher than the signs recommended, but he didn’t care. He was looking for someone. Someone very special to him and he wouldn’t stop until he found her. He had woken up tied to a chair with a hot poker sticking out of his chest in his own house by who he assumed to be the ghost of a very vengeful Mason Lockwood. Someone he knew to be dead since he had been the one to kill him and he had an inkling that the beautiful brunette might know something about it.
The whole experience was one Damon was in no hurry to relive since he had almost been turned into the permanently dead version of a vampire. It was also the first time in a long time that Damon had actually been happy to see his little brother. Stefan had showed up just in time and saved the day. Damon would have usually been irritated with his hero complex having brother, but since Damon wasn’t lying as a pile of dust right now, he really couldn’t complain.
All he knew was that Mason Lockwood just popping up at random times to do god knows what to him was a no-go for Damon. So he needed to find his little witch and fast.
