Ep. 44

The Corea Royal Palace was busy receiving the flower garlands. Seok Hok Pil together with Jangmi checks the security of the flower delivery officer. Lee Gon stood near the back pool of the Palace with his arms crossed behind him.

A bird flew low over the pond, not making Lee Gon's gaze change. He kept looking at the pool blankly. Lee Gon could continue in such a position for an hour or more if Lady Noh didn't approach him.

"Pyeha"

Lee Gon was a surprised to hear Lady Noh's voice and came out of his reverie.

"Pyeha, I've prepared food for you. Eat even if it's only a few spoons"

"How is the Queen's condition? Has she back to the room?"

"Hwanghu Mama is still in the park with Miss Seung Ah. I can ask Seung Ah to take the Queen here"

"No need. Just leave it. I'll wait here"

"Ye Pyeha. I'll have the waiter bring the food over here" said Lady Noh before leaving

Lee Gon remembered Prince Buyeong's words last night.

"It is very dangerous. Patients can die from blood loss because of the impact of bleeding if the baby damages the surrounding organs"

"There are only 2 options, terminate the pregnancy or keep the baby at risk of death for the Queen"

"If a miracle comes, the baby can grow to birth, but the birth of a very deformed baby because prematurely even death is unavoidable"

Lee Gon held on to a nearby pole. It felt like he couldn't hold himself. If only he hadn't seen the bodyguards from afar looking him, he might have thrown himself to the floor. He tried to look fine even though his heart was very brittle now.

Seung Ah grabs the coat from the maid who follows her from behind and helps dress Tae Eul.

"Seung Ah?"

"Ye Hwanghu Mama"

"You know, when Captain Jo first met me, he was very cynical. He looks like a jealous boyfriend." Tae Eul smiled.

"I think that Captain Jo and Pyeha had a relationship. Moreover, Pyeha has never dated any woman."

"Captain Jo once told me that Pyeha and I could never be together. Our world is different."

"What? Captain Jo said like that? Isn't the king allowed to marry a commoner? His mind is very old-fashioned, no wonder his photo gallery only contains photos of landscapes"

Tae Eul smiles back and realizes that Jo Yeong is keeping the parallel world a secret from the woman he loves.

"But I want to thank Captain Jo for taking care of Pyeha since they were both little. I heard their father was a friend."

"Ye Hwanghu Mama, Captain Jo's father and King Lee Ho are friends ..."

"Se ... Seung Ah, come on back"

Tae Eul felt back pain around her tummy.  She endured it in hopes that it would go away on its own, but the pain did not go away but only grew.

Seung Ah helps Tae Eul into a wheelchair and pushes her away.  Tae Eul can't walk in her current state. It felt like she wanted to curl up crying in pain alone.

The Palace corridor was full of Palace maids busy arranging flowers sent from all the Royal delegates. All the palace maids stopped their activities just to bow to greet Tae Eul, even so Tae Eul did not see them because she was busy looking down enduring the pain in her tummy.
