The power cut

Olivia despised Mondays. Why did they have to be right after the weekend? And to make things worse, she had a chemistry test that she hadn’t studied for. As Olivia trudged through the snow,she fiddled with the zippers on her backpack,desperately trying to get her book out.She finally got ahold of her book and skimmed through the pages. Olivia groaned inwardly.There was no way that she’d be able to learn all of this stuff in thirty minutes.She looked up from her book as she heard the sound of snow crunching under tires.

‘Hey Olivia!’

It was Sylvia, Olivia's best friend.

Olivia smiled.‘Hey Sylv’

‘Need a ride?’asked Sylvia.

‘Sure’

Olivia slipped into the car and shut the door

‘Last minute studying,huh?’asked Sylvia, looking at Olivia's book.

‘Yeah, I totally forgot about ms greene’s test.I’m gonna fail this for sure’

‘Relax ,you still have more than twenty minutes left’

‘Right,I’m going to learn all of this stuff in twenty minutes’retorted olivia, sarcastically

‘Now, shush.I have to study’.

Ten minutes later, they arrived at their school.Olivia was agitated, and was reading the same lines over and over again

‘Liv,stop stressing about this, It’s not even ten percent of our grade’said sylvia

‘I know, but I failed the last two and if I don’t get a good grade on this, I’m gonna be grounded for a week’

‘It’s your own fault for procrastinating’

The bell rang as olivia was about to retort

They both entered the class room an took their seats

Olivia sat at her desk with her book wide open, trying to cram as much knowledge as possible into her head ,while Sylvia sat next to her, mouthing ‘you're crazy’

Ms Greene stood in front of the class and cleared her throat

‘Ahem’

Nobody listened , too busy talking and studying

‘AHEM’ said ms Greene

This time everyone looked at her

‘Due to the majority of you failing my last test,today’s chemistry test is cancelled’

‘Yes!’thought olivia

‘So,’continued Ms Greene,we will go over the chapters again and we will have another test next monday’

‘Now ,everyone open your books to page 107’

The rest of the day went by in a blur

Soon, school was over and Sylvia and Olivia were sitting on Olivia’s bed, eating a pizza.

‘I can’t believe she actually cancelled the test!’Olivia laughed,’I thought I was gonna fail’

‘Well, I know for a fact that you won’t study for the test next monday’, sylvia snickered

‘You know me so well,’

They both stayed talking until evening

Then they both went downstairs to watch TV
