4. The Landing

Jeon's family were having a vacation in jeju island. They're about to going back to seoul. They chose airplane as the mode of transportation as his dad was going to conduct a seminar in a university. It seems that heavy downpour was experienced in the seoul.

On the flight of asiana airline to gimpo intl. Airport.

"eomma, it seems like the clouds are getting bigger and bigger, darker and darker. Is it safe to stay in flight?" asked wonu eldest sister to mrs jeon.

"dont worry, they were expert in handling the flight. We all gonna be safe today." mrs. Jeon convinced.

This however have turn into worrying situation. The clouds are getting bigger and harder. As the flight were passing through it, the fuselage (term used referring to the main body of an aeroplane) begin to shaking a lot. The belt fasten warning light have been lighted. The flight attendants asked all passengers to keep calming as this was minor collision.

Soon the flight were descending to the gimpo intl. Airport. Thunderstorm which was nearly rare was happen that day. The runaway was slippery and most of the flights have been asked to turn around. However, this differ with the flight with jeon family. The fuel was not going to enough for another turn around. The captain have to make the big decision whether to try landing on the runaway or to land on top of Han river (same as the movie Sully). Suddenly, air traffic control(ATC) has granted permission for the flight to land on the runaway for emergency. Its still a risky choice but yet no other choices.

"this is ur captain. The situation now is we have granted for landing in gimpo intl. Airport. Were ready for descending. Make sure that belt is fasten as the weather is quite rough. Crew, please make sure that all onboard are taking safety measurement before we proceed. Stay safe. Thank you. "said captain through the speaker all along the cabin.

As the flight start to descend, its seems like one of the 2engines have failed to operate normally. Soon later the flight was in stalled condition.

" mayday mayday. This is flight asiana AXX-XXX, one of the engine stop working. Birdstrike(phenomenon where a flock of bird trapped around engine cause it to fail work). Request emergency response team." say captain to ATC.

The captain managed the flight to descent at the right angle to landing. With the help of one engine, he manage to land it but it was hops between full land. However, due to slippery runaway, the flight slipp over runaway before it could fully stopped. The flight crashed leaving full of fatalities.

All the media, news, reporter have their report regarding the crash. The people of korea start doubting the authorities as they could reroute the flight to the incheon. The ATC critisized by the citizen for losing hundreds of human lives. The number of onboards of the flight was 347 people. Only 132 made it alive which mostly of them were warded and some of them were in ICU. It happen that jeon won woo is warded in nearest hospital only. This however have turn the table completely.

"r u okey jeon won woo? You have small fracture in humerus. If the recovery period goes well, it will be better periodically." said a nurse to wonu during daily checkup.

It has been 2 days since the landing. He does not have the might to do anything. All he could do is lying on the medical bed. Most of the time, some of his relatives give him a visit while his aunt, miss kang make it the most. However, all gave the same face language to him. Simply, sad or even devastated.

"aunty, why r u always been here? R u not working?" asked wonu.

"aaa, im taking several days off to take care of u" smiled miss kang.

"its fine, im okay. In fact, all the nurses here are treating me well." wonu answered simply.

"its okay wonu" miss kang said slowly.

"u could take care of my parents or my little brother if insisted." wonu asked.

"ermmm it okay. The doctor told me that no one is allowed to visit them as they quite injured" her sighed.

Of course jeon wonu does not know about the situation is going on. He does not realize that he has lost the entire family. Most of them were found dead during the crash while only mrs jeon were put into ICU. However, soon she blew her last breath after experiencing disruption in ventilation. Miss kang does not have the courage to tell that jeon won woo is an orphan that day. This turn her into utterly devastated as she could not lying anymore. She thought that jeon won woo could realize the truth by asking the medical personnel.

After 4 days being warded, jeon won woo finally smell something fishy with his aunt. He asked the nurse who take care of replacing the bandage on him.

"can i ask u something, is my parents and siblings okay? I heard that they are critical" asked wonu.

"ermmm, sorry to say this. But seeing ur recovery took faster than the thought it should be, i think it is the perfect timing. All of them were in phases we could say far worse from we called critical. Im sorry. All of them, have passed away during the crash and mrs jeon passed away in the ICU. All their corpse are stored in this hospital to wait u before funeral" say the nurse feeling guilty.

Without anything to say, wonu began crying. He cried all of his might. For the first time ever he could not even think for anything. His life is completely crumple. He has nothing to lean on. This has develop him into traumatized boy. He could not seeing other people before he could screaming. He cannot stand in dark room. This forced the hospital to take benefit on his insurance policy to warded him in personal room where he could never seeing anyone except the medical personnel and his own relatives. The room that he could light it up for the entire days. And even weeks. This behavior seems not change for 3 weeks. Even funeral took down during this devastated period, he barely manage to attend the funeral. The hospital set him up seeing the psychologist and counselor to help with his behavior.

"hello aunty, could i visit him?" asked kim hanna to miss kang.

It was true that kim han na was never visit wonu since the crash. This however due to his emotionally wasnt prepared for any visit of others. He could strike on anyone before including miss kang. Miss kang did not allowed hanna to visit due to assault may caused by wonu. But now, after several consult with the psychologist, he become better. However, wonu chose to live by himself.

"i think we should let him be with the orphanage. We could not take the responsible of taking someone else son. He could assault us by the trauma." said wonu uncle which later agreed by most of his uncles and aunts.

"ur selfish. All of u selfish. Im going to take him with me. Is it wrong being single to take care of her nephew. In fact, i can gave the most love toward him" banged miss kang angrily.

Most of them were initially interested in taking care wonu. Its mostly caused by the privilege provided by the government and the fortune inheritance left by his late parents. This however changed after wonu decided to turn in almost 75 % of the inheritance and insurance compensation to a charity organization.

"r u sure that u r going to turn in that much?" asked miss kang

"yuppp..it is useless having much fortune without having any way to spend it. Seeing myself like this. I want a fresh start. To make the money myself so that i could achieve personal satisfaction. And also i do not want other people taking benefit from it especially uncles and aunts. "answered him.

Kim hanna finally granted the permission to visit wonu. He live in a cramped apartment in seoul. He asked her to enter his room. She notice that in the room it was no one except it was very little things. It was completely differ from she thought for a boy who have suffered so much. The apartment was completely neat. Soon she began to notice something weird. She enter the apartment without pressing the passcode as the door was not completely closed.

"he might be here or somewhere near" she thought.

She began to look for him. All on her mind was rooftop. She began walking to elevator to walk upstair.

Soon entering the rooftop, he notice a boy standing on the railing. It was sure jeon won woo.
