Chapter 3- News Spreads Fast

Socks was chasing after Dino until he lost him. He really wasn't a bad person and he didn't want people thinking he was a murderer! But, he is. He almost killed Dino, and had killed Muffin.

"What am I going to do?!"

"Hey Dino! Uh.. what's wrong?"

This was Blaza, and this was the first time he had seen Dino for a couple days. Blaza was the talkative, optimistic, confident person in the group. But, he mostly knew when to be serious and when he could mess around. Sometimes he wouldn't. This was one of those times.

"No, I'm not. Socks just tried to kill me!"

"WHAT?! Why would he try to kill you?! Socks would never do that!"

He wouldn't.. right?

"He was trying to kill me because I was going to tell everyone what has been happening to him. And once I'm with everyone, I'll explain."

"Okay then... Oh! Also, have you seen Muffin? Nadwe has been looking for him everywhere!"

Dino went pale. Blaza could tell he said something he shouldn't have, and that he didn't want to know the answer. Dino couldn't even look at him.

"Muffin is- Socks- he.."

Dino couldn't even finish his sentence, because if he did he'd break down crying. And Blaza could tell something was very wrong. He felt a shiver down his spine.

"Hey, it's okay. You can explain when everyone is together, alright?"

Dino nodded in agreement, and wiped the tears that were forming in his eyes. He had always reacted late, so this was also from what happened before with Socks. Blaza and Dino started walking towards the secret base they had, and they weren't the only ones that stayed there. Muffin used to stay there, Tbh stayed there, and Socks stayed there sometimes. He usually just stopped in to say hi, or stayed the night if it was getting late. Everyone is usually there during the day though, just chatting, figuring out mysteries, or who knows what else. Dino started explaining what happened, and Blaza was dumbfounded.

"Might as well head to the base.. everyone will probably be there. And as long as I don't hear the voices, I should be fine!"

Right?

Socks started towards the base, and he wasn't too far away. As he was walking, he found footprints in the sand going in the same direction he was headed.. and the same direction Dino went. They were shaped in a creature-like foot, and a shoe. Socks looked in front of him to see Blaza and Dino about 30 yards in front of him, starting on the bridge that led to the base.

I might as well go to the base, they would figure it out anyways.. they were always good with this type of stuff.

Even though Socks wanted to meet up with them, his feet wouldn't move. It was almost as if some force was pushing him back. That is when he heard a voice in his head, almost like his conscience.

"No, don't go there!!!"

In his head, he responded with,

"Why not? They'll find out about what is happening soon enough! Especially if Dino is in there."

"I refuse! I won't let you!"

That is when Socks felt the sensation again. Something rolled down his cheek. He rubbed it off with the back of his hand, and looked at it. It was the same substance as before. No! I don't want to hurt anyone! Not now! He was expecting his mind to be taken over with the evil force from before, but he wasn't. He could still hear the voices though. He then felt a sensation in his chest. He looked down and there was a mouth that was stuck, shut. Socks just stood there, bewildered about what just happened. This was the first time he was conscious and saw it. He was about to touch his chest and see if it was painful when he noticed his right fingers were now very sharp. He said to the voice inside his head,

"ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?!"

The voice responded in the same voice Socks used when he attacked Dino,

"Listen to me and I won't make you do anything. If you diso-"

The voice was cut off with Socks thinking about the good times with his friends. Before all of this. Socks focused on those memories until he felt his hand return to normal. He then resumed walking to the base.

"Ey Blaza! Ello Dino! How are youse?" Laff greeted them cheerfully

"Uhm.. is something wrong?" Nadwe asked

Dino then ran full speed into Nadwe and gave him a bear hug. Nadwe was surprised by this and was immediately confused. Dino lifted the 15 year old off the ground and whispered trying not to cry,

"I'm so sorry Nadwe.."

Meme then shouted,

"What the heck is going on?!"

Dino gently placed Nadwe down to the ground, which was surprising since he is known for being very intense.

"It's Muffin.. he has.. he's been.."

Blaza finished for him.

"He's been killed."

Everyone didn't believe them at first, which they had expected. Nadwe didn't believe them whatsoever and questioned,

"Is this a joke?! Cuz if it is, it's not a very good one."

"I'm not joking! I found his wrapper in the Mystical Forest!"

Half the people who were talking went silent. Laff was one of the people who were still talking and asked,

"Has anyone seen Socks? He lent me this pickaxe last Friday so I could get some iron. It's been two days since I last seen him."

Meme then agreed and said,

"Yeah, where is Socks? I haven't seen him all day."

Woolf, the only person who doesn't go to sleep until at least two in the morning said,

"I saw him up at around one this morning.. he usually is asleep by then.."

As everyone started talking about where Socks was, Dino and Blaza were just listening. Nadwe had stayed silent ever since they said they found Muffin's wrapper. Nadwe then came up to Dino and Blaza and said,

"Did someone really murder my friend?"

Tears were starting to build up in his eyes.

"And if so, who."

Dino took a shaky breath in and whispered,

"S- Socksfor1."

Nadwe stood there for a second, staring off into oblivion. He couldn't process that one of the nicest people in their group would kill one of his own friends. He had murdered Muffin. Muffin was one of the people Nadwe trusted the most. They had been friends for years, and they thought they would be friends for much, much longer. It was all cut too short. Then Nadwe overheard,

"Seriously though, where is Socks?"

Nadwe screamed at the top of his lungs,

"DON'T YOU EVER MUTTER THE NAME SOCKS OR SOCKSFOR1 EVER AGAIN!"

Everyone just stared at Nadwe. His tears from before were ready to burst down his face. Nadwe had been upset, frustrated, and sad before, sure. But he had never been this upset. Just then someone opened the door from the outside and came in in the middle of it.

"Uhm.. Hi?"
