i sat at lunch with vic, bryce, and mattia. we were talking about everything and anything and it was going alright, until vic mentioned the talk about crushes.
"hey, do you guys like anyone?" vic asked, biting into her fry. i froze. i like mattia but no one really knew.
"i do," mattia said, smiling goofily. my heart ached a bit. the thought of mattia having feelings for someone else was heartbreaking and scary. for a moment, i thought mattia couldve liked vic, and maybe i was right.
"ooo, whos the lucky girl?" bryce teased, with a smirk. he softly chuckled, and looked down.
"she's an amazing person, funny too. she's caring but a bit feisty," he sighed and glanced at me. i quickly looked away and pursed my lips.
" i have no idea who she is but she seems like a great person." vic says.
mattia softly laughed, "trust me, she is,"
it's probably vic, this amazing person could never be me.
i blinked say my tears, as reality hit me. "hey, uhm guys, ima go use the restroom real quick."
i picked up my backpack as i heard them respond with an 'okay'. a tear started to slip away and i wiped it immediately before rushing to the restroom.
i arrived and quickly locked myself to the furthest stall, letting all the tears fall out while covering my mouth in fear that someone might hear me.
i ended up not going back to the cafeteria. i stayed in the bathroom trying to calm myself which also had taken up my lunch time.
after the bell rang, i picked up my backpack and washed my face to make sure my puffy eyes and dried tears stains werent visible.
i walked into my next class, which was with mattia. i wasnt in the mood to see him at the momen, and i didnt want him to see me either. all my hopes of that were gone as soon as i sat down at my desk. he looked at me and took the seat next to me.
"hey, where were you at lunch?" mattia asked in a worried tone.
i panicked a bit but kept my calm. " i um, just hung out there. i needed some alone time."
"oh, are you okay? you don't seem as happy as you normally do." he kept his worried tone and looked me deeply in the eyes. i avoided eye contact, with him knowing i could break down in front of him.
"yeah, i'm fine," i quickly say. i decided not to worry him by changing the topic, " so... this crush of yours seems just as great as you."
he kept a straight face and nodded while staring at me, "mhm. she definitely is."
i kept quiet, as he did too. he decided to break the silence a few moments later, "hey, im gonna tell you who she is. you just cant tell anyone."
i slowly nodded as he leaned in my ear and whispered, "y/n y/ln is this great crush that is just amazing-no, more amazing than me."
my eyes widened and he laughed and gave me a hug as i hugged him back and whispered back, "i like you too mattia polibio."
