It didn't start out like this believe it or not. What you now know as the Grand Canyon, well there wasn't anything 'grand' about it a few thousand years ago, but, times change and so does our world. Most of you won't know this, nor will you believe me when I tell you, but love is a powerful magic. So powerful in fact, that when a heart gets broken a piece of our world breaks with it. Now, you may be wondering how this has any connection to the Grand Canyon, or maybe you've figured it out already. Good on you if you have. I'm here to tell you all the story of how the Grand Canyon was created.
Many millennia ago the world wasn't what we know it as now. You know that already of course, but since the first creatures that could feel emotions were created, our world has been breaking. Not just breaking humans hearts can beak the earth, oh no. The earth breaks with any and all heartbreak. The heartbreak of a mother bird when her baby falls out of the nest, the heartbreak of any creature that has consistent mates when that mate dies. Any heartbreak.
The first time a human heart was broken there wasn't a huge crack created, but over the years more and more have appeared. Some of it is weather and the earth moving, definitely.
Many of you like to assume that the Grand Canyon would have had to have been created by one singular heartbreak. If that was true the person who created it would not only be dead, but their soul would not have had enough strength to keep itself together. This didn't happen, rather, the Grand Canyon became the place that carried the burden of the worst heartbreak. No one knows how or why it was this one particular place, but that's what happened. Over many thousands of years the more hearts that were broken, the deeper and bigger the Grand Canyon became.
We have studied it almost since it started. We have few answers to give. Yes, other places still break, but it seems different places break for different heartbreaks. Sometimes when people break up or get turned down, they think they love the person more than they do, so they feel heartbreak but not always to the full extent. These most often create cracks in the pavement. When people breakup, get turned down, or end any kind of relationship that meant a lot to them they tend to create cracks in tree bark, or small holes in the ground. Breaks in living things take more force to create.
The Grand Canyon has been broken down for thousands of years from a specific kind of heartbreak. It was created from the heartbreak that you get when you get the worse news of your live. For a lot it's someone dying, for others it's war, or news of a terminal illness, for others still it's any multitude of things. When you feel the most emotional pain you have ever felt so far in life, that is when the Grand Canyon gets bigger.
No one knows why this specific place on the planet became the spot where this type of heartbreak went. There are many of theory's in groups of those of who have been studying it for centuries. The main theory stands to reason that it was just coincidence and since it began it just kept going. My theory varies from this. I think that the Grand Canyon became the spot because it is the only part of the Earth that can survive this type of heartbreak, thousands of times over, or even just once. That the Grand Canyon is the place because no living or even inanimate part of the Earth could withstand the force, the power, the emotion that came with that type of heartbreak. Any other part of Earth would be to broken and would break the Earth to badly, for anything to survive.
Remember that next time you feel this type of heartbreak. You are surviving something that most of the Earth cannot. You are just as strong as the Grand Canyon.
