Tom Riddle smiled weakly at the small child in his arms. His little girl, her mother gone because on birth issues. She was all he had left yet he had to let her go. He was going to give her to someone who could care for her without her being in danger. There he stood in front of the school he had so despised but he knew this is where she'd be the safest. A small snake was sleeping on top of her. 'A gift so she will never be alone' Tom thought to himself. He set the little girl down, wrote a small note of her name and sent a patronus to Snape so he would find her. After this he would make a better world for her. The ones who denied him would fall and she would be safe. Tom walked away he was Lord Voldemort.

~Timeskip-Two years~

Kate ran down the Hogwarts corridor from the one she was left in the care of that day, Severus Snape or to her Sevey. "Kate if you don't go to bed now you won't be able to stay up to watch the new first years get sorted," Snape threatened. Kate stopped in her tracks, turned around and solemnly walked back towards the man who had tried to contain her. "Ok but you have to tell me a story Sevey so I cans go to sweep," she said yawning and raising her arms so he'd pick her up. He nodded and picked her up carefully her little snake followed behind quietly. After he had put her to bed he went to Dumbledore so he could give a report of what happened that day with Kate. Snape knocked on the door of the office then entered the room quickly shutting the door behind him. "This morning she was talking to the snake Albus, then she took a wand from a classroom and began to levitate the potions equipment. What are we going to do when she's older and able to take down all of Hogwarts with one swipe of her wand?" Snape questioned irritably. "I don't know Severus, we'll just have to wait and see," Dumbledore replied with his usual calm face. Snape nodded and walked out of the office and down the stairs. As soon as he made it down the stairs he bumped into the little child who he had put to bed not much more than ten minutes ago. "Sevey I can't find Rider, he's not in my room or yours and he isn't in Oncle Hagrid's house," Kate said beginning to sob loudly. "Come along I'm sure he is somewhere," Severus replied taking the girl's tiny hand in his own.
~Timeskip - The next day at the sorting ceremony ~
"Come on Rider or we'll miss the talking hat!" Kate shouted in parsaltounge. She made her attempt to dodge all the students who were getting back from their common rooms and moving towards the dining hall. "What house table should we sit at today? I don't think we have sat with Griffindor in awhile," Rider replied to the small girl with a small hiss. Kate nodded her head, the Griffndors had always been accepting of her being able to talk with Rider and she felt as though they were her real family. Kate quickly slide into a bench and waited for the sorting to begin which didn't take long. "Bill Weasley," Professor McGonagall called out. "Griffindor!" the hat shouted. The table was cheering as loud as they could. "Hi! Would you like to sit with me? You're Bill right? I heard Auntie McGonagall call your name," Kate spoke smiling at the new boy. He nodded his head then began to speak, "Why are you here aren't you a bit young?". " I live here with Sevey, Auntie McGonagall, Uncle Hagrid, and Grampa Dumbledore," she stated still smiling at him. By the end of the meal Kate was passed out with her head lying in Bill's lap, who was stroking her hair. "Hand her here boy," a voice said sternly from behind him. Bill turned to face Snape who was holding out his arms. Bill lifted the girl from his lap carefully trying not to wake her but he was to late and she woke slightly. Kate reached toward Snape and mumbled "Rider it's time for bed, maybe Sevey will read us a story as well," she said her parsaltounge quiet as the snake slide behind her and the professor.
