And take a piece of my heart
And make it all your own

I had asked Cyrus on a date.

Well, not really. I needed someone to attend some awards show with and Lance was going with Dexter and I wasn't in the mood for third wheeling. He had said yes and now we were getting ready.

I slipped into one of my favorite dresses. It was blue with a netted halter and it floated gently just above my knees. I added a black leather bracelet with metal detailing and a pair of black gladiator sandals. I left my hair down in its natural state.

I was waiting in the kitchen when I first saw him.

There was only one thought that crossed my mind.

Holy hot damn this boy is gorgeous.

He looked almost unworldly.

I looked down at the floor. To embarrassed to keep looking at the god-like man in front of me. I felt his gaze piercing me. It was a relief when he cleared his throat said, "Ready to go?" I nodded and we headed towards the car my dad bought me for my sixteenth birthday. It was a '67 black impala. It was my baby and I love it with all my heart.

We clambered in; me driving and Cyrus sitting shotgun. I didn't trust anyone with Leo (my car), even Derek.

It was silent as we sped down the freeway. It wasn’t uncomfortable but it wasn't comfortable either. It was...neutral.

When I told Lance, he flipped. I'm pretty sure his exact words were, "I get to be your best man right? I can also be the entertainment. Ohmygod! I already have so many ideas! Also, give an estimate on how long it will take for me to be an uncle, cause, I don't want to be like, old...am I right?" I hung up on him. However, he had gotten inside my head. I kept thinking about a life with Cyrus. It was crazy but it's just a thing girls do I guess...maybe? I don't know.

Cyrus broke the silence. "You look...you look gorgeous, Zoe. Truly beautiful."

"Thank you." I flushed furiously and had to contain the much to giddy smile trying to break out on my face. "You-you're looking pretty-pretty great yourself." I managed to get out while still choking on a few words.

I stole a quick glance over to see he was already looking towards me. "I want to thank you for inviting me to this event. You could've brought anyone, and you chose me. It's something that means a lot to me."

"If I'm being honest, you're the only person I wanted to bring." I felt my self turn even redder-if that was possible-at the confession.

Just then we pulled into the side entrance. I still had to show on the red carpet so another car was waiting there for us. I explained to Cyrus what we were going to do and he nodded. Unspoken words hung in the air between us, thickening the air with tension.
