Author Note: As a bonus chapter, the letter that Jim wrote to Teddy.

Scrawled on the front of the paper in dark blue, slightly faded ink were four words written in that familiar handwriting.

To my lovely fox...
~Chapter 18: Aftermath

She flipped over the table and sofa, freezing in place when she stumbled upon Jim's letter. She picked it up, staring at it, her breath ragged like it was being torn from her throat. Without a word she ripped it apart, letting it fall to the ground. That draw was closed and it would remain closed until the end of her days. Whatever he wanted to say all those years ago was meaningless. He was dead. She would never see him again.
~Chapter 23: Ultimatum

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

To my lovely fox,

I will admit to you now that I am afraid. Isn't that obvious? If I wasn't, I wouldn't be writing these words down. I wouldn't be giving you this letter. I would be telling you myself if I wasn't so afraid.

What am I afraid of, you ask? Well, for starters, I'm afraid of how you'll take this new-found information that I have kept you in the dark about. I'm scared of your reaction. I'm so damn afraid of your answer. If you were to say no... God, that would break my heart. But if you were to say yes? There is a small part of me hoping that you don't say yes. I don't want this world to corrupt your beautiful heart and mind, my fantastic fox.

I can't put it off any longer. I must tell you. Teddy, my love, there are things that you do not know about me. Bad things, dangerous things. I cannot write them down here for fear that you may go to the police but I can tell you a bit. I can tell you that I am a physcopath, pure and simple. I'm sure that you will, at first, deny this, but think, my love. Use that wonderful brain of yours. Deduce the truth. See past the mask. See me for who I am. You will find the answer to your questions there.

Once you have found it, come find me if you wish to stay with me. I will tell you now, Teddy, it will be a difficult life. You may come to hate me if you say yes and you will most likely dislike the things I do, but I promise you fox, I promise you... Nobody will hurt you. Nobody will tell you what to do. Together we can live in our own world and be the King and Queen. You will be my Queen. It will be the two of us against the rest of the world.

If you say yes, then come to Central Park. You know where. I will be waiting from ten till eleven tomorrow morning. If you say no, then burn this letter and forget about me. Don't go to the police, don't tell anyone from Uni, just forget everything. It'll be safer for you that way, fox.
Whatever you choose, my dearest love, know that you'll always have my heart.

~JM

Author Note: Instead of using this letter, Jim decided to just leave Teddy that sad, little note that broke her heart. Had Jim used this letter, though...

She would've said yes.

And, my, how different this story would've been.
