Love

Her worst nightmare has came to life.

She was alone. She had no one. Not even her closest friend. She was rich but had no happiness. Her best friend disappeared infront of her just like that with another.

She don’t even think he felt that she was his only friend until he started coming to school. She had no one. Her father was busy going for meetings, going for business trips and taking care of the city as Mayor.

Everyone thinks that she am a bully. Everyone even Adrien, her only childhood friend. As she stared out the window, she saw the blonde with the raven haired girl.

She couldn’t take it anyone. Even Sabrina, was ignorant. She didn’t know what to do. There was no one for her. She felt like she was just a peck of dust. Daughter of mayor. Everyone wants to be the Daughter of the Mayor.

But for her, it was hatred and pain. She was jealous of everyone. They had a family but she had none. She was alone. What’s the point of living if you have nothing. Alone. Alone at home. Alone in school. Alone everywhere. She stayed not wanting to come out. She didn’t want to come out. She had none.

No one to care for.

No one to spend time with.

No one to live with.

No one to share her love with.

No one to be with.

No one to share with.

No one to talk to.

No one hug.

No one to cry on.

No one to kiss.

Life just became a nightmare.

“Chloe, please come out. You have been in there for two weeks. Please come out, darling. I am worried. Please. I am sorry I have to leave you every time for work but you know its for your own good right? Please. I don’t want to see you like this,” the Mayor begged her daughter eyes full of hope. He sighed. He persuaded everyday for her to come out of her room. What was the point.

“Y-yes, Daddy. I am S-sorry, I made you worried but I just needed time,” Chloe said in shaky tone as she opened her room door.  She was wearing her Pjs, making sure her dad couldn’t see the cuts. You could tell that she was crying. Her eyes were puffy. As soon as she opened the door, Mr Bourgeois engulfed her daughter into a big hug. She cried as she buried her head in his chest.

“Dad, can I go out for a while please.” She needed more lone time. “Yes, of course. Just don’t make me worried, ok?” He replied as he slightly smiled.

Chloe put on her yellow hoodie and made sure it covered her half face and her entire body from head to toe, just her eyes to be seen. as she walked out the hotel. Small steps. Bit by bit. She wobbled. It has been two weeks since she went out. The sun shone on her as she covered her eyes with her hands. She took a deep breathe as she walked to the near by fountain to sit.

Breathing in the air around her, she smelled nature. Something she missed for two weeks. Something she took advantage of. Sigh! What was she doing there? There was no point. No point of living. All she does was hurt people because she was jealous and people hurt her back. She didn’t want money or fame.

She want love and care.

Her father. Her father couldn’t give her that. She knew her was doing everything for their own good but it wasn’t enough. It just gives more pain than ever. He couldn’t give her love. Her mother wasn’t there. None appreciated her. None needed her. She felt like she didn’t belong. No one loved her. She never felt so hurt and painful throughout her life. She felt like jumping in a pitch black and dark whirlpool, forgetting all about her pain.

She continued sitting there, watching the whole of Paris. She saw couples, families and friends. None was alone like she was. She was fidgeting with her charm bracelet. It reminded her about the time when she was young. Her father gave it to her.

At that time, her dad wasn’t Mayor. He was just dad. Kind, funny and loving. She had so much fun. But now she has money. Money without love. Love. It echoed on her head. Love. A word she never experienced. Something she took for granted when she was young. Something she never knew would give her pain. Something she never thought she needed.

Something she never got with money. “Money can’t buy love, Chloe,” she remembered the bluebell eyed class president tell her. The words echoed. She was always jealous of her. She understood that now. Love can’t be bought but can certainly fade away. There was no hope. She had no purpose. Might as well die. Die from hatred, pain and loneliness. Disappear from reality.

She put the lucky charm in her pocket of her hoodie as she continued watching the sky above. The clouds taking shape into whatever they liked. She wished she were like them. Carefree, swimming in the sky at its own will, own freedom. When the cloud gets an impact, it splits into two or more but comes back together by the wind, by itself.

But her heart wasn’t. Her heart was already broken into hundreds and thousands of small shattered pieces, each of them having its own impact, effect and emotions. It couldn’t be mended. It was too powerful.

While the clouds were white, light and pure, her heart was dark, bloody and broken. It was too painful.

It was like a big, heavy stone piercing her heart. It cannot be taken out. The stone was growing bigger and bigger while her broken heart was shrinking. Shrinking until it would disappear into the abyss. Love was supposed to bring joy and happiness to a person but all it gives to her is pain, the opposite.

She definitely didn’t imagine her life to come like this until she was like a ghost. Pale and invincible. Nobody could see her. It’s like she didn’t exist.

She decided to head back home after the rough day. She slowly but steadily stood up to get back home. Home huh? Why didn’t she feel it was home. It was more of a prison. Honestly, what is home. Home is where you actually feel good about yourself, where you loved and cared for.

However. For her she prefers to be at school where she actually feels at home though she don’t show it and her classmates do not really like her. But she knows at school, she feels at home. Even the pig-tailed hair girl she despise, cares about her. She loved it there but now she had no one. She about to take her next step from the fountain when someone called her from behind.

“Excuse miss, but I think you dropped this,” said the voice. She tightened her hoodie as she turned around to see the redhead. It was Nathaniel holding her charm bracelet. It must have dropped down when she got up from the seat.

She knew it was Nathaniel which made her become more insecure as he was her classmate. She did like him for a while but who would like the class meanie though she don’t mean to hurt people. It was just the way she took out her anger, sadness and pain. She didn’t want to show her face and most of all she didn’t want to show that she was crying. She took a deep breath. “T-thank y-you so much,” she said in a shaky tone as she took it from his head.

Nathaniel’s POV

Just as usual, I went to the fountain near the park to find inspiration for my comic art. I started looking around for inspiration when I heard sniffles. I looked around seeing a girl with yellow hoodie around her head. The hoodie looked so familiar.

I felt sad for her. I wanted to help her but I didn’t want to be called a busybody. So, I just waited and looked around. I looked back at her and saw her get up shakily. Something dropped. Her charm bracelet. I picked it up and asked trying to be in the most soothing voice, “Excuse me miss but I think you dropped this.”

She quickly fastened her hoodie with both her hands as if she didn’t want anyone to see her face. Then, she turned around. She turned to see me. She hesitated for a second and took a deep breath before saying, “T-thank y-you so much.” Her voice was shaky but I could recognise her voice. Hmm? I thought to myself. I could only see half her face, a bit of her eyes and her hair colour.

She had light cobalt blue eyes and light honey blonde hair. I would recognise that hair and eyes anywhere. Plus, her hoodie. It was so familiar. I had so many questions. Why didn’t she come to school? Why was she crying? Chloe out of everyone was crying on that beautiful day in Paris.

Why? What happened to Chloe. Honestly. I did have crush on her for a while but it was to no avail as she didn’t notice me. I am quite shy. She probably don’t even know that I study in her class. However, I need to help her though she might scream at me.

She turned around almost taking the next step when I gripped her hand. As I gripped her hands, she gasped in utter shock. I pulled her closer towards me allowing her to turn around facing me. She merely inches apart from me. She looked so much skinnier than usual. Pink blush tinted on my cheeks but I didn’t care about it much. “What are you doing,” she started pulling her hand, trying to escape from my grip.

“Well, Chloe. I am not letting go of you until you tell me why you aren’t coming to school and most important why you were crying just now,” I asked her getting more angry by every words escaping my mouth. She hitched and froze for almost a minute before regaining composure. “Sorry Nathaniel. I am not in a good mood so it would be best if you leave me alone. Please,” she exclaimed in a fake calm voice.

I was surprised. She didn’t shout at or anything and most of all she remembered my name. I didn’t know how the help her. Neither did I want to give up on her. I then realised that I was still holding her hand. I let go and just as I did it, the sleeves or her hoodie shuffled a bit allowing me to see the the fresh scars on her hand. I immediately took note of it as she quickly used her hands to cover it. “I better get going,” she said as she turned around.

3rd person’s POV

“Oh no, you don’t.” She heard Nathaniel from behind as she felt a grip again. She turned. She was back to being mean Chloe again.

“What do you want tomato boy,” she asked annoyed.  Nathaniel didn’t expect her to get angry but didn’t give up. He pulled Chloe closer to him. He knew she likes compliments.

“Oh Chloe. Don’t be angry. You look pretty when you aren’t.” He whispered. Chloe flushed bright red.

“What do you want, Kurtzberg.” Chloe asked in a more polite tone. Nathaniel immediately pulled her hoodie sleeves up, exposing the cuts.

“What is this Chloe. Why are you doing this to your body?” He raised his tone. She immediately let her grip of from Nathaniel and brought her hand towards her body.

“That’s nothing. I fell down.” She muttered as she looked down.

“Chloe you are telling me why you didn’t come to school? Why you look so skinny? What did you cut yourself. What happened to you. I care about you, Chloe. You can trust me.” He said soothing giving Chloe the jitters. Did she hear correctly? Nathaniel caring for her?

“I am not getting away with this aren’t I?” Chloe squeaked. Nathaniel shook his head. Chloe sighed and cried what she felt to Nathaniel. Every word she said, Nathaniel felt the pain and wondered is this the girl who bullied people in school.

They walked towards the nearest restaurant as she continued. Nathaniel patted her in the back comforting her. They both sat in the shop as Nathaniel ordered food for Chloe. Maybe she wasn’t alone? She wasn’t alone as she thought. She had Nathaniel.

“Don’t worry Chloe. I am hear for you. I am hear to listen to you when you need. Now it this. You need energy. I can’t bear to see you like this.” Nathaniel said as he ushered the food towards Chloe. Touched by Nathaniel’s word and action, she started eating. She felt so much better.

She loved him. He loved her. However, they didn’t know. As Chloe ate her food, Nathaniel admired her. They finished eating.

“Thank you, Nathaniel,” Chloe said as she pulled him to a tight embrace. As she hugged him, Nathaniel took in the scent of her hair while she took the wafting smell of his cologne. They let go as Nathaniel smirked, “How did you like our date?”

“D-date?” Chloe asked as she blushed profusely, looking down.

“Yeah. It was, wasn’t it?” His smirk was still on as he leaned forward. He came closer to kiss her nose but just then Chloe lifted her head up, connecting their lips. Both were shocked, as the they flushed deep red from the tip of their nose till their mouth.

Their eyes locked as cobalt blue met turquoise. He took the first step as he snaked his hands around Chloe’s waist and kissed her, giving her shivers. He pulled her closer deepening the kiss. Chloe was even more shocked but after a while started kissing him back. They parted after a few minutes for air. But their eyes remained locked.

Nathaniel just had one last question…

“Will you be my girlfriend?” He asked nervously, thinking she might reject him.

Instead she smiled so bright and said, “Yes!”

And they kissed again, more passionately.
