I dragged myself out of my car feeling miserable. I hated this shitty town and I hated the people in it. My eyes were low this morning so I decided to wear shades. I don't think people would notice anyway. "Hey baby", Veronica voice echoed. I put my hand up causing our nonexistent conversation to end.

I rubbed my temples as Veronica still tried talking to me. "I just don't get why you do this", she nagged on. I closed my eyes imagining myself being shot in the head. At least her voice would go away. "Hey", I get her attention. She smiled as if she had been wanting my attention for the longest. Her smiled dropped as she grabbed my face. "Your face", she looked sad. That's the only thing I miss about her, she cared for me. She took my shades off revealing the bags under my eyes. I could see the sadness written all over her face. "I'm fine Veronica", I whisper to her. We were in the back of the class so no one really paid us any attention, which was good.

"No it's not!", she pouts. I take her hands in mine so she could feel like I cared for her. "Don't worry about me ok. I've made it this far alone, why worry now", I dropped her hands. I got up relocating myself in a seat closer to her. I decided not to say anything to her in class, it'd just make Veronica jealous. Not that it matters but pettiness isn't a good look on anyone.

The teacher talked to her and I could tell she wasn't listening. She was too busy looking at something out the door. I turned to look out there but I didn't see anything. I took my glasses off and for a split second I thought I saw someone...or something. Then again I hadn't slept in 36 hours so hallucinations were possible. I looked to the beauty again but she was already staring at me this time. I smiled and she looked away. Was my smile that bad? I rest my head on my desk feeling sorry for myself.

Before I knew it school was over and I was heading outside. The fresh air was always nice after being in that hell hole. I felt a cold touch sending chills down my spine. I looked down to see the fine specimen herself. A smile formed on my face but I soon dropped it. She didn't like when I smiled so I won't around her. "Hi", I say with a straight face. "Can we talk?", she took me by surprise. I nod taking her hand into mine walking the two of us somewhere quieter.

Her hand was warm now and I could tell she noticed it. "Um I need to ask you something", she says. She barely ever looked at me and I hated that. "Here", I turn her head towards mine. She stared at me for a while and looked confused. She caressed my bruises and for a moment it looked like she cared for me. "No smiling today?", she asks. "You don't seem to like my smile", I say. She shook her head. "It's not good to smile at aliens remember", she smiles sarcastically. Although the smile was fake, I still enjoyed it.

"You don't have to do that around me. I just want to know Onika I don't care about this town or that you're of Maraj descent. It doesn't bother me so stop treating me like you do them", I let my feelings out. Her eyebrow raised slightly and she began to walk away from me. I won't let her walk away today. I grabbed her hand spinning her back towards me. "And please stop walking away from me. I find it rude", I answer. She seemed intrigued by my gesture. She looked into my eyes all while looking my face over. I couldn't tell what she thought of me but I had a good guess.

"You're knowles blood you should stay away from me", she said confusing me. "What the hell does that mean?", I scrunch my face. "I don't have time for this", she looks down at her watch. She looks at that thing more than she does me. "Here", I gently turn her head my way. I stare at her for a second and mistakingly smile. "Shit", I murmur out. "What?", she asks. "It's hard not to smile around you", I smile again.

She smiles revealing the sexiest dimples that I've ever encountered. "You're beautiful", I look into her eyes but she looked off this time. The town's bell rang and Onika looked to her watch. She seemed afraid as she ran to her car. "Wait!", I shout after her. I run after her when I'm stopped by Charlie.

"Dude your pop's been looking for you", he looked worried. I never told Charlie about the abuse or anyone for that matter. Maybe he had his suspicions but like Veronica their suspicions never went any further. Because like everyone in this town, their cowards including myself. I should probably be afraid that my father's looking for me. But for some reason I didn't care. It didn't matter because my mind was wrapped around Onika. I had to figure out why I drifted to her so much. "Just tell him I'm studying with a friend", I say before jogging to my car.

I tried encouraging myself before stepping foot into the Maraj's estate. I knew I was breaking rules by doing this but I didn't care. Something inside me brought me to this place so I won't leave that curiosity untamed. I took every step wisely as I approached the house. I've never seen the place in person before, it was huge! It damn well didn't belong in this dull ass town I know that. I tried knocking on the door but something took ahold of me. I look around seeing nothing visibly attacking me although I felt the force. It felt like something was taking all the air from my body. I fell to the ground choking as I was possibly taking my last few breaths ever.

I heard shouting and the force seemed to suddenly stop. I could breath again even though I still felt near death. I coughed as I felt life spring back into me. I opened my eyes seeing Onika before me looking scared. I pick my shades up hurrying to my feet. I hold my chest still wheezing from the near death experience. "Oh hi", I choke out. I felt myself losing conscious as Onika's face became blurry to me.

_______

Onika's POV

She had to be crazy. No she was an idiot. She had to be, no one ever came to this place unless they were. What does she want? She doesn't seem like one of the five so who could she possibly be? No one knew of my location besides my uncle. Something about her was strange and I have to know what it was.

She looked uncomfortable as she slept on the couch in my room. I didn't know what I could do for her besides let her rest. That spell should've held her much longer than it did, why didn't it? My uncles spells never got broken that easily before. She had to be of importance of some kind. I looked her over noticing her blacked eye among other bruises. The five wouldn't have let that happen to her so I knew she wasn't like I was. But still something about her was definitely questionable.

She finally rose from her slumber causing my eyes to widen. I wasn't good at being social so I awkwardly sat their staring at her. "Did I pass out here?", she tried sitting up. "Yea", I say shyly. I know I was an asshole at school but I'm not. I just have to be that way because people expect me to be like that you know.

She looks to me then at my room. "What were you doing here?", I ask. She was in this town way longer than I was so I'm sure she knew the rules. "I wanted to talk to you", she said. I shake my head because she was so hardheaded. "I told you to leave me alone. We can't be friends, you're a Knowles remember", I clarify. She laughs shaking her head. "And I said I'm Beyoncé, just Beyoncé remember", I shake my head. She was cute but I knew this was breaking so many rules. "Why does it matter if I'm a knowles or not?", she asked. She looked confused so I knew she wasn't toying with me. She really didn't know her own history.
