Kamara

"Kam!"

I whip my head around and push my hair out of my face to see Samantha hanging from the tree in the courtyard.

"What are you doing!?" I whisper yell across the yard as I run to her.

"I'm having fun. Come up here!"

"No! Daddy told us not too! We are going to be in so much trouble if he sees you." I scorn.

"Oh come on." She says rolling her eyes. "Sometimes you have to break the rules to live."

Suddenly I see a shadow walk across the window.

"Samantha get down this instant!" Oh no. Daddy.

But that's not right. I was supposed to climb up and play with her. Sam and I never told our parents about that. That was one of our secrets.

I jolt awake. Lee stands above me, looking down at my face. I scream and he jumps back.

"What the hell are you doing?" I yell. He quickly composes himself before speaking.

"I told you to be ready to talk." His voice is deep and rough. If he didn't kidnap me, this would be the type of guy Mary would tease me about.

"I don't know what you want me to tell you." I retort. I fight the urge to spit in his face as he bends down to my level.

"The hard way it is." He says before grabbing me roughly by the arm and pulling me off of the bed. I gasp out of surprise and try to gain my footing before he pulls me any longer.

Soon we are going up the wooden stairs and out the door. At first I am blinded by the natural light pouring in through the window. I blink for a few seconds and try to look around for as long as I can, making a mental map, before I am pulled away. Lee takes me to a room with books lining the walls and a huge window. Inside I see two chairs and a desk separating them.

"Sit." Lee orders as he releases me and goes to lock the door. Slowly I lower myself into the chair closest to me. Lee turns back around and starts to pull things out of a box to the right of the desk.

The first thing he pulls out is rope. He grabs my right wrist and starts to tie it to the chair. I should fight back but I have nowhere to go and fighting will only make things worse. Once he is done with my right wrist he moves on to my left. I try to lean over and see what else is in the box but Lee sees me and walks in front of me, blocking my view.

Next he pulls out several pads connected to wires. He places them on my arms and neck. The wires lead to a small black box with controls. Lee pulls it out and places it on the desk. He walks around and sits in the chair on the other side of the desk.

"Now, I would suggest you answer these following questions."

"I don't know what you are talking about." I retort. If I keep this act going they might believe it.

"Fine, let's start out with something simple. What is your typical life like in the castle?" I keep my mouth shut. I don't speak, I just glare at him.

Suddenly I feel a jolt of electricity, it causes my muscles to cramp up in excruciating pain. I let out a scream but then it is over.

"I will ask this again, what is your typical life like in the castle?" Why do they want this information? What good does this do for them?

"Mary. She wakes me up. She helps me get ready for the day. Then I eat breakfast. I go to some ceremonies and then I go back home." I keep my answers as bland as possible. I don't know why they want to know this but I might as well give them nothing in my answers.

"How do you interact with Mary?"

"She is like my best friend. We are together all day and she helps me with everything." Lee nods to my answer and writes something down on a notebook in front of him.

"What was the device attached to you in the train?" Do I lie? I need that device but hardly no one even knows about it. I don't need my kidnappers to know about it.

I feel the jolt of electricity again and this time it is more painful than the last. I am trying to recover when I feel it again. Causing me to double over. I rest my head against my arm that is tied to the chair and I feel something wet. I'm crying. I'm not surprised but I don't want to show him I am weak.

"It's my PAC." I blurt out so he doesn't flip the switch to send me into pain again. "It keeps me alive. I need it. It delivers medication to monitor my blood pressure and heart rate."

I look up at Lee to see his face change from serious to concerned.

"What do you mean you need it to live?" He asks.

"My sister died from this condition I have and unless I have that device I am going to as well."

Lee stands up and walks over to the door. He unlocks it and yells for C. She comes running in and starts to take off the pads and untie the ropes on my wrists. She tells me to stand up but when I do my vision goes black and I lose my balance causing me to fall back into the chair. Dizziness, a sign of low blood pressure. I need my PAC. C leans down and pulls one of my arms around her shoulder so she is supporting my weight. I close my eyes and focus on my breathing. C leads me through the hallway and down the stairs and rests me on my bed. I hear her footsteps retreat as I open my eyes and stare up at the ceiling. I could die here. Even if I had my PAC they could kill me for information.

Exhaustion sweeps over me and my eyes start to close. Before I pass out, I hear Lee upstairs yell.

"Someone get me a communicator to Aleeria!"
