Before all hell broke loose and pandemonium ensued, Percy thought the night was going rather well. It wasn't the best night ever, in fact, it was a bit annoying, but he was at Anthony Stark's house and the man actually knew who he was. All in all, it was a vast improvement on the past however many years of his life. Then a ginger woman climbed up in front of the DJ's booth next to the drunken Iron Man and tried to quickly talk him down. Percy hadn't seen what the big deal was with Tony's behavior. It was a bit embarrassing, but still funny and to be expected. He wasn't stripping or cursing or getting angry, Tony was simply a childish drunk. He was goofy, so why it was a problem wasn't totally clear.
Although, Percy supposed, Tony was meant to be a hero of mankind, and Percy was well aware of the responsibilities that came with that. Getting semi-publicly drunk probably wasn't the best for his image. Though in Percy's time as a hero he was mostly around friends he could rely on and who knew who he was, so it simply hadn't been as big a deal for him. Plus, y'know, there hadn't been as many cameras to catch anything embarrassing, and any regrettable stuff that was caught was usually only embarrassing because the Mist made it look stupid or terrorist-like.
Regardless, the ginger woman approached the drunken Tony with an embarrassed and stressed smile as she tried to wrap up the party. The Stark was hunched over giggling at his own joke and the woman quickly took the microphone from him, putting a hand on his metal-covered back.
"Does this guy know how to throw a party or what?" Everyone cheered while Tony stood and gave a drunken salute, wrapping his arm around her loosely for balance so he could lean in to the microphone and slur out, "I love you", his eyes catching Percy's and a smile splitting his face. He really was a childish drunk and Percy couldn't help but laugh, shaking his head at the man's antics.
"Oh, unbelievable. Thank you so much, Tony." The woman grinned awkwardly, thinking the words were for her. Percy swallowed down his jealousy. Now wasn't the time and Tony hadn't done anything wrong. It was a misunderstanding and the woman obviously blamed his drunken state and didn't take it seriously. "We all thank you so much for such a wonderful night. And we're gonna say goodnight now," everyone groaned in disappointment, "and thank you all for coming." She was trying to put an end to the party, and Percy supposed it had gone on long enough and Tony looked to be not far from passing out somewhere. It probably was a good place to end things, after all.
"No, no, no, no. We can't. W-Wait, wait, wait." Tony protested and Percy began slowly making his way to the front of the crowd in case he needed to intervene. "We didn't have th-the cake. We didn't blow out the candles."
"You're out of control, okay?" Percy took a few steps forward, seeing where this was going. Tony wasn't going to let this party die easily.
"I'm not out of control."
"Trust me on this one, okay?"
"You're out of control-"
"Anthony." Percy had stepped up in front of the platform to face Tony, his back to the audience. The Stark stared at the man, an odd kind of pleading in his eyes while the ginger looked confused and put up a hand as if the stop the stranger, her mouth opening to say something when the man continued. "Why?"
"Trust me." He looked a lot more sober than he'd been acting just moments before, and Percy nodded as if he understood. Which he didn't, by the way. He had no idea what was going on, but it was clear Tony had a second agenda for this party and whatever this act was was a part of it.
