From an outsider's point of view, Adelaide Hanson was no one extraordinary. Honey blonde hair and bright eyes paired with her tall and graceful posture deemed her quite attractive. The sixteen year old girl's warm smile made her appearance even more lovely. But a deeper-dive into Adelaide's life would have someone questioning everything that they had previously known about her.

At the age of five, she first revealed that her mother's magic had passed down to her. Adelaide had been playing with a group of Muggle children, when one of the boys had fallen down and scraped his knee. The little blonde girl had simply touched the wound, unknowingly causing the raw skin to heal itself back to a shade of light pink.

Six years later, the girl started her years at Hogwarts. Her mother had been a Hufflepuff, but she was delighted nonetheless when she learned that Adelaide had been sorted into Ravenclaw. She quickly befriended her roommates Ophelia and Joslyn, as well as a funny boy named Raymond. The four of them caused just as much trouble as the Gryffindor's, but they were smart enough to avoid getting caught. Late nights in the common room were spent playing games and telling wild stories.

The year was now 1944, and Adelaide could no longer afford to cause trouble just for the sake of fun. It was the first night of the new term, and she was already quite overwhelmed. Her polished black shoes clicked against the floor with every step she took. The seventh floor of Hogwarts held the entrance to Gryffindor Tower, meaning that the scarlet-robed students were hard to avoid. She was running late, which meant she would need to conjure a decent excuse to give Riddle.

Adelaide finally reached the ugly tapestry, the one she had grown to despise in recent months. She paced past it three times, her fingernails digging into her arm as she did. When the Room of Requirement finally appeared for the girl, she was immediately met with Riddle's pallid stare.

"How wonderful of you to finally decide to join us," he sneered.

"Dumbledore and I crossed paths on the third floor and he decided he was keen on conversing with me. My apologies, Riddle." The one thing Adelaide refused to do was call the boy 'My Lord' like the rest of his Knights did. She was not going to fuel the power dynamic that he had set up, although he of course didn't see it that way. He did not view Adelaide as an official Knight; she was considered more of a temporary ally.

"I brought the letter that you requested," she told him while pulling the parchment from her bag. Across the room, her boyfriend tried to meet Adelaide's gaze. She allowed a small smile to cross her face, wanting him to know she was alright.

Of course, none of this would have happened if she hadn't fallen for Alcott. She had originally planned on simply kissing him a few times in an attempt to get on his good side, for Ophelia's sake, but his stupid jokes and hazel eyes had lured her in. Adelaide's relationship with him was the starting point of all this, but part of her was afraid it wasn't what was keeping her here.

As Riddle read over the letter, Adelaide took note of the others who were present. It appeared to be an "inner-circle only" meeting today; only four others were present. Maya Nott sat on a couch with Evan Rosier, across from Abraxas and Alcott. The Malfoy boy was reading a copy of the Daily Prophet while running a hand through his snowy locks.

"Your forgery work out?" Rosier asked her. He was referring to the letter in Riddle's hand, which was a reply to one that Adelaide had written, pretending that she was an American Ministry witch seeking out a treasure from Borgin and Burkes.
