Mining can be hard if you don't know the wright tools to mine with. To mine stone you need a wooden pickaxe, if you want cobblestone you mine stone with a wooden or stone pickaxe. To mine coal you need a wooden or stone pickaxe. To mine iron you also need a stone pickaxe. to mine Red stone and gold you need an iron pickaxe. To mine diamond you need an iron pickaxe or a diamond pickaxe if you already had diamonds. Emerald is a rare ore if you were to find any you would need and iron pickaxe or a diamond pickaxe either would work.
