Virgil tiptoed into their bedroom, smiling at the sight of his boyfriend under the covers. He pushed a few things to the side with the edge of the tray he was carrying, then set it down on the surface. As long as he didn't nudge it, it wouldn't fall down.

Virgil climbed into bed, pulling the covers down slightly to reveal more of Logan than his messy hair. He bent down to press a kiss to his boyfriend's cheek, then a trail of kisses along his jaw. It resulted in signs of life from Logan, which was him pressing his face into the pillows to escape the attack.

"Good morning, starshine." Virgil mumbled, after their three years together, very used to Logan's hatred of mornings. (If you could call this morning.)

"Five more hours." Logan mumbled, Virgil biting his lip not to laugh. People always assumed he was the one to sleep all day, which was a correct assumption, but he doesn't get close to Logan's mess of a sleeping schedule.

"It's twelve, Lo." He pointed out, pulling slightly at Logan's shirt to will him to roll over onto his back, which the other did while groaning. If it was about having to move, Virgil having the audacity to wake him up, or it already being so late Virgil didn't know. Likely it was a mix of all three.

Virgil was not giving up so easily though, even if Logan was utterly adorable when he was sleepy, all pouty and cuddly and ready to do anything for more sleep. Right now his boyfriend was wrapping an arm around Virgil's middle, surely in an attempt to pull him down for cuddles, which normally Virgil wouldn't deny him, but the coffee he had made Logan would get cold.

Instead of being pulled down he threw a leg over Logan, straddling him. Logan peeked up at him, frowning as he was surely beginning to understand that Virgil wasn't going to let him sleep more right now. (And Virgil knew very well that Logan would end up upset if he did sleep the entire day away.)

"Happy birthday." Virgil said, fingers tangling with Logan's as he watched the other slowly comprehend the words he had said.

"Oh." Logan said a moment later and this time Virgil let a small chuckle escape him, but he stifled it quickly, by pressing his lips to Logan's in a kiss that might be a little too intimate and emotional for someone who had just woken up, but Logan seemed to have absolutely no complaints.

"Oh." He said again as they parted, his cheeks stained red. Virgil adored how even after so long he could still make Logan blush and short circuit, it was just too adorable.

"I've made you coffee." Virgil pointed out, something that always got Logan to listen.

"I love you." Logan said and sat up, immediately going to search for the coffee. Virgil moved off of Logan and let go of his hand, reaching for the tray, sure that there was less of a risk of it all falling to the floor if he was the one lifting it.

He set it down in Logan's lap, showing him the coffee in his favorite space mug, a not so neatly wrapped gift (look, it was difficult), a plate with two toasts with Logan's favorite crofters spread on them, and a dark blue rose lying on top of the gift.

It was maybe not the most impressive breakfast, but he knew from experience that it was usually the only thing Logan was interested in eating so soon after waking up. Most other breakfast foods would be a waste.

"Virgil, this is... thank you." Logan settled on after failing to find his words for a few seconds, smiling oh so softly at Virgil.

"Of course, L. You might not be that into birthdays, but I find it very worth celebrating that you exist. I kind of love you a lot, you know." Virgil said, slightly flustered. He was relieved that Logan seemed happy, he had had his doubts and fears that maybe he was doing too little or maybe he was doing too much, but of course Logan wasn't upset.

"Love you too." Logan said, his fingers reaching out to caress Virgil's cheek, something that made a small shiver run down his spine. Meeting Logan's eyes there was no doubt in Virgil's mind that Logan was sincere. (Hadn't he gotten far these past three years?)

Logan wrapped his hands around his cup, taking a long sip of coffee, sighing in content at the taste. How would his boyfriend ever survive a day without coffee?

Virgil pushed the gift slightly closer to Logan, his boyfriend getting the hint and starting to carefully loosening tape (as if the wrapping was not already ripped in more than one place after Virgil's attempt at taping it together).

He delighted in the way Logan's lips were pulled into a smile when he uncovered the two blu-ray cases, Logan immediately flipping them over to read about the adventures on the backs.

Anyone knowing Logan properly knew he was a massive fan of Doctor Who, a proper nerd, and Virgil knew very well that Logan had been very interested in watching the first part of the show, the Classic Who seasons between 1963 to 1989.

So he had ordered a few adventures (the old episodes weren't divided into seasons you could buy, it seemed, they were divided into four to six episodes that were about the same adventure), and these two had arrived in time for Logan's birthday. More were on the way.

"I cannot wait to watch these." Logan said, almost grinning as he read the other discs' content, which was an unusual amount of feelings for being so soon after waking up.

"Yeah, I thought you'd like it. I also have more on the way." He mentioned, which was news that made Logan pull him in for a kiss that only almost made Logan's cup of coffee spill.

"You're perfect." Logan said seriously, which made Virgil both smile and roll his eyes, but he didn't dare dispute it, then maybe Logan would tell Patton as a retaliation to his self deprecation.

Virgil moved to sit next to Logan, leaning against him as Logan ate his toast and drank the rest of his coffee while excitedly telling Virgil everything interesting he knew about the production of the Classic Who stories.

Then they set the tray aside, this time on the floor to avoid any possible accidents, and Virgil went to put the first recorded Doctor Who adventure into the blue ray player. They spent the next hour, to Logan's delight, watching Classic Who and cuddling in bed before they eventually would have to get ready for the birthday lunch they were going to meet up their two friends for.

Virgil tightened his arms around Logan, smiling to himself at how his boyfriend was marvelling over the episodes, the plot, the characters, the set, the costume designs. Logan might not be the biggest fan of birthdays, but Virgil was definitely going to try his damned best to change his boyfriend's mind.
