In India, mythologies play a vital role in constructing a person's aura of nature. As they say these myths are history without proof, naturally there would be a debate. But what if the incidents from the present society may lead to a debate in future? The topic 'Linga' translates to 'Gender' which indeed is a quite sensitive and complex topic.
As per the mythologies I had grown up listening to, the term gender is quite interesting. According to the puranas of the vedic time the linga or the gender had been classified into many categories which we call as LGBTQ community in the modern era. But one question kept bugging in my mind,Why are many people against this and discriminate the Lgbtq? It is present in the mythologies which have been taught as myths as well as the fundamental base of history. The evidences and proofs for homosexuality, transsexuals or any sexuality are the sculptures in many temples and ancient monuments of India. Even a character named Shikhandi in Mahabarat is a transgender and 'Mohini' the avatar of Mahavishnu is a believed to be a transgender who is actually worshipped by the Lgbtq communities in rural areas of India.Well these situations have been clearly explained in the inscriptions of vedic and in the mythologies, are they really myths or history? Have people been influenced by these myths and folklore? I definitely think they had been influenced by the myths and folklore they grew up listening to which might have played a minor but vital role in their lives. But this again strikes the same question in my mind, whether these can be considered as the complex pieces of history which impel the modern era.
When I reconsider and think about it I think these myths are the examples as well as are the best tales that can be taught in today's history. And we cannot deny the fact that they aren't only myths. One can explore the mythologies which indeed are vast than the sky to prove facts which may just be facts.
