Third Person POV-
13 years ago in the Romano Manor..
"Bambina please come back here," Dante said as he chased after the toddler, 'their baby sister,' or so they've been told all their lives. At 2 years old little Bella had everyone wrapped around her chubby fingers. All the 'scary mafia men,' as they've been called would move a mountain for their piccola principessa mafiosa (little mafia princess).
Her giggles filled the house as she jumped into her older brother's arms, Elijah, or Eli as Bella would call him. Chuckling, Elijah picked her up and spun her around in circles.
"Eli, Eli save mee, the big bad wolf is chasing me around!" Bella told him, gasping for breath like she'd just ran a marathon. Dante soon came around the corner smiling, reaching his arms out to tickle her.
But little did they know that would've been the last time they heard her sweet giggles and saw her gummy smile...
(Fast-forward to that night)
As the twins, Adriano and Marcello, went to tell their sorellina (little sister) goodnight, they heard their oldest brother, Alessandro, talking to someone downstairs and then the old oak front-door slam shut. Thinking nothing of it they continued walking till they reached Isabella's door.
When they opened the door, their eyes were like flying saucers when they saw what was staring back at them...
Isabella's room was completely empty and the once pink walls were now a light grey in color, her crib that was usually filled with stuffed animals and barbies was now gone and there was a queen sized bed in its place.
The boys looked at each other, communicating with their eyes they both ran to their dad's office, which was on the same floor as their bedrooms. Both boys said a silent prayer hoping Isabella didn't leave them like their mother had.
Their mother, Laura Romano, had died in the hands of the Russian Mafia boss, Dimitri Ivanov, who was their father's greatest enemy. Their father, Romero Romano, had made sure to kill that son of bitch the second he saw the love of his life dead in Dimitri's arms. But of course, the 4 year old boys didn't know this, only Alessandro and Elijah knew the truth about what happened their mother.
Knocking on their father's door, they were met by a teary eyed Alessandro. Looking up at their father and brother, Marcello asked, "Sandro, dad, where's sorellina (little sister)?" Their dad knelt down in-front of the boys and replied with, "I'm sorry guys but she's gone, and wont be back for a long time..." Their father's usually cheerful grey eyes held a mix of regret, sadness, and longing.
Both boys instantly started crying, while sniffling, Adriano turned to his older brother who looked like he would start sobbing any minute and questioned, "Why's she gone Sandro?"
With tears pooling in his stormy grey eyes which he inherited from his father, he replied saying, "It's for her safety Adri, it's gonna be okay." Even though Alessandro knew deep down, he was gonna be the most miserable of all everyone in the family.
Leaving it at that, the twins left the office and went to their rooms with tears running down their faces.
Once they closed their doors, Alessandro suddenly shouted at this father, "This was a mistake.. Why the fuck did you want me to send her away!?" Regret predominantly appeared on Romero's face.
"I know but its for her safety, we don't want what happened to your mother to happen to Bella.." replied Romero.
"I get that but how do we know that Katrina is gonna treat la mia piccola farfalla (my little butterfly) right?" asked Alessandro.
"Don't worry, Bella's gonna be treated fine," said Romero
"I hope so, if she isn't, I won't hesitate to put a bullet in your head!"
But little did Alessandro know that his father won't be there for him to shoot.
