"A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you, the less you know."

THERE ARE 7.79 BILLION PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. So the phrase, "one in a million'' doesn't make sense- not to Aurelia Mariae Rothschild anyways, and yet there she is at the age of twenty two, as the incomparable diamond of the newest generation of the world's familial billionaires, the Rothschilds. Despite the privilege and the one-up (more like 400 billion one-ups) she has been born with, Aurelia is not foreign with having nothing. Though she's had it all at her fingertips like an extensive education and the world at her hands, the lack of her parents' presence- more so now than ever, has had her skipping items on her gratitude checklist.
"I can't, I've gotta go. Sorry. Bye." And click, goes her phone, Lila Archer leaving Aurelia defeated by the deafening sound of silence. With pursed lips, Aurelia gripped her phone tightly, about to leave Teterboro airport for her third flight on her private jet of the day.
Aurelia and Lila had shared a penthouse suite on the Upper Eastside, a fifteen minute drive cutting through Central Park or a twenty five minute walk for Lila, as the girl feels the utmost embarrassment for taking advantage of Aurelia's car service when the latter had already paid for everything.
Lila, an aspiring actress, felt second to not only New York's best, but the headmaster's personal favourite, her roommate, Aurelia, because of her natural beauty and talent to succeed at all she tries, no matter how foreign to her. It had started in her first year, she was pulling strings to be able to afford even a box of what was supposed to be an apartment in the Bronx. Fortunately, a Belle (Aurelia) and her elite posse of socialites had practically rescued her from dropping out, becoming a stripper, and being a walking wasted pile of potential. All because Aurelia offered her a place in her flat in exchange for discount meals at the restaurant Lila worked at, even though she knew deep down that with her limited edition Birkin, she wouldn't need to.
Which is why in the four years that they'd lived together, Aurelia had only eaten at the diner twice, tipping at least four times more than the average and even bringing over lots of customers from her own personal connections. Their friendship was too good to be true which is why Lila couldn't handle any of it anymore. The secrets, the money, the limelight. She was done.
Hence why Lila needed a fresh start as a newly graduated Bachelor of Arts student from Julliard where dreams (some of them, anyways) came true, Los Angeles, California. Packing her belongings, business cards packed, and rooms cleaned up, Lila was ready to leave the literal shadow that being in New York had been for her by departing the day Aurelia left for London to attend her brother's charity lacrosse match.
A part of her was guilty, yet she knew that Aurelia deep down knew this was meant to happen especially at the stage of their friendship, so she didn't need to feel guilty. Tipping and leaving a note for Aurelia and her housekeeping staff and the doorman, she left; however, she still turned back.
Aurelia boarded her jet, greeting the pilots and flight attendant, sitting next to the window, breathing steadily, trying to get her emotions in check as she remembered her father's words. "No decision made on the premise of uncertain emotions is a decision, but an offense," as to remind the brunette that her emotions will only cause more damage if she reacts hostile and offended, though she is.
Aurelia had given this friendship her best, even comparing it to hers with Elijah, Everleigh, and Nathaniel- her "posse" of rich puppies and one mutt, her brother James. However, at the same time, she knew not to chase as no lady was ever to chase what is theirs. Perhaps, Lila wasn't hers anymore, though she isn't a property.
