It was a decent Sunday evening. You were taking a stroll around mansion's garden, viewing the flowers and taking in the pleasant scent that came from them. The sky was clear, and only a few clouds were scattered about the sky. Butterflies were fluttering everywhere, granting you some fleeting moments of happiness. But, this was short-lived.
"(Name)! Come here, we have a guest."
That, right there, is your birth giver. The bond between you and your family ceased to exist, so you really didn't feel any.. gentle, or fragile emotions for them.
She shot you a glare. She would've been screaming at you by now, but of course, she couldn't so that in front of guests.
"(Name), what took you so long? We were getting worried! Come on, we have guests."
She had a strained smile on her face. Her voice practically dripped with honey.
Two can play that game, you decided.
"Sorry mother! I was just enjoying the scenery. I won't worry you like this again next time." You said, smiling.
Your "mother" scoffed under her breath.
The four adults started discussing. You were bored out of your wits, so you kept zoning out. You did catch tidbits though, about an.. arranged marriage?
Damn. Should've ran away from this crude place when I had the chance before this happened.
You started regretting your life choices.
"Excuse me, I'm sorry to interrupt, *but I have to go fix my clothes."
You gave them a smile, and went to the bathroom.(*Translation: I have to go use the bathroom.)
(Name) leaned on the bathroom wall, thinking. Should she just run for it? It would definitely be too tedious. She figured she would simply sneak off. You pushed stools and furnishings to the window, climbing to it.
Can I fit through this small space? .. I'll just wing it. If I get a broken bone or a fractured ribcage, more excuse to delay the arrangements.
The window was opened. You took care to take off your shoes before eventually falling.. questionably out the window.
You stood up, but limped a bit due to the swelling in your now twisted ankle.
Better than nothing, you thought. Better than staying at this fake palace and living a fake life of fake happiness. Lots of fakes in one sentence, I know, but it's true.
