I popped the sucker from my mouth and leaned back in my chair with a smirk, feet up on the desk.

"Heh, and they say you can't complete an essay in thirty minutes."

I click the submit button and watch as I officially complete the last homework assignment before my fast approaching graduation.

A small squeal of excitement leaves my throat and I spin around triumphantly in silent celebration.

"y/n?" My room door opens and I see my Dad standing there with a small quirk on his brow. I slow my chair awkwardly, stopping myself to look at the man. "Your Mom and I are heading out to dinner, can you pick up the groceries for us please?"

"Sure, is there a list?" I question, putting the sucker back in my mouth.

"On the counter downstairs. We love you sweetie, try not to stay out too late," My Dad shuts the door and heads out, the sound of him and Mom chatting reaching my ears from the room.

I finally get up after working on all my missing assignments and stretch a little, grabbing my small jacket.

"List on the counter," I recite my Father's words as I go down the stairs, reminding my forgetful brain of where the paper would be.

Eventually, I get to the kitchen and immediately see the note, reading over it to see that there aren't a lot of things we needed.

I'm still taking the car anyway.

My family has two vehicles. One for Mom; one for Dad. There is no in-between, and they don't share.

"Detergent. Potatoes. Pop. What a random list, you think they'd wait until shopping day to get this stuff."

I take the paper and grab my Mom's car keys so I could tote the stuff back to the house without pulling a muscle.

As I'm getting in, I see a notification on my phone pop up and I look to the screen. "The new Resident Evil game was finally released, huh? It's been hyped so much but is it worth it—?" I sigh, already knowing I'm going to give in and buy the game when I get back.

. . .

"I'm home—" I cut myself off prematurely, remembering that no one was there to greet me as I lug the groceries into the house, plopping them onto the kitchen counter where I'd gotten the list from.

"Okay, I may be a little out of shape but this is ridiculous lungs," I speak between short intakes of breath as I try and catch it. "Damn."

My eyes wander over to the stairs and I smirk, finding a new sense of air as I begin rushing up to my computer.

Resident Evil Village, here I come.

I practically jump onto my computer's desk chair and pull myself against the wood, starting up my electronic with glistening eyes.

It's almost immediate that I open Steam, going up to the search bar. I mouth the words silently as I type, smirking when I see them pop up.

I click on the name, an image flashing across the screen that makes me hesitate. "Eighty dollars?!"

I blink a few times to make sure that I'm reading the price right, a ball of disappointment hitting my gut.

I don't have that kind of money!

"Maybe Mom and Dad will offer to split the total with me?" I shake my head at the thought, knowing they wouldn't do that after I just wasted all of my paychecks on the chair I'm currently sitting in now.

Worth every penny if you ask me.

"There's gotta be a different site with smaller prices," I type the game up in a Google search bar and wait for the results, being met with a site I'd never seen.

"'PlayerInsert', huh? Meh, why not; anything below sixty bucks is good for me."

I click the site and the games cover automatically loads up thanks to the search I put in. "Only twenty bucks?!"

I look over the game, seeing the description of it and the reviews, only— there were no reviews?

"Why wouldn't people be able to find this game any sooner?" I raise a brow, clicking the checkout button to see if it was some shady kind of thing.

The link said '.org' so it can't be too bad, right? I type out my information and give my money to who knows what before I see a small 'purchased' sign appear.

"I just fucked up, didn't I? I'm getting scammed for being a cheapskate."

I sigh as I watch the game download, my curiosity rising. Well if it was a scam would I get the game?

It doesn't take long for the thing to download and I see it appear on my home screen. "Here goes nothing I guess."

I click the small decal, watching everything load as it usually does for the R.E. games. I smile, feeling like I'd just gotten a steal for the game.

"Okay then, don't mind if I do—" I choose the average gameplay and take no hesitation in pressing play.

I wait for a second, but nothing happens; so I click it again. My joy deflates. "I knew it was too good to be true, what a waste of money—"

I get cut off as my feet start going numb. I look down with confusion to see a bright blue light enveloping my feet, taking them up in pixels.

"What the fuck?! What the fuck!" I grab onto the arms of my chair in concern, watching my legs slowly float away in pieces as I lose feeling in them.

"Holy shit!" I grab the tv remote on my desk and hit my leg, feeling the plastic swing through air. "Where are my legs going?! What's happening?!"

Fear kicks into overdrive and I'm going a thousand miles a minute to try and think of ways that I could stop my body from doing whatever it was doing.

I grab my phone and dial 911 as if they can help me, putting the device up to my ear as the pixels reach my upper abdomen.

"911, what's your emergency?"

"My body is turning to pixels!"

"Ma'am I'm sorry, I think I misheard you. Can you repeat that please?"

"You've gotta do something, my parents aren't home and I'm—"

The pixels reach my mouth and I can't talk, tears slipping from my eyes as my disappearing hand drops the phone, letting it fall to the floor.

"Ma'am? Ma'am, are you still there?"
