Chapter 1

"DING DONG" "DING DONG" was the sound Jisoo woke up to. "UNNIE! WAKE UP!". Her eyes widened- "shit shit shit shit" "fuck-FIVE MINUTES" she shouted out to who she already knew was Jennie. Cut to five minutes later, she has a slice of toast hanging out her mouth whilst her hands are occupied trying to tuck in her blouse. "UNNIE I'M GETTING SICK OF THIS WHY CAN'T YOU JUST BUY AN ALARM ALREADY?!" "woah, relax jendeukie why would I do that when you're here" she said flashing her iconic smirk that even her dog does. "Unnie this isn't funny; we are attendings now so you can't be acting like you're in a coma until i wake you up." "but that's the thing jendeukie, I lost so much sleep going through being an intern and resident that now I can finally make up for it. I'm a frickin doctor!" she said smiling. "Just get in the car already" Jennie said trying not to smile while taking her place in the driver's seat.

Once they got they got to the hospital they worked in, Jisoo suddenly realized she forgot her coffee. This was crucial as the main reason she got through med school and her pre-attending years was coffee. In the actual world, pearls weren't a girl's best friend- coffee was. It was like Jennie read her mind as at that exact moment she said "Don't worry I told the nurses to inform your intern to get your coffee ready". "what would I do without you jendeukie" Jisoo said while attempting to wink at her. "Exactly, what would you do?" Jennie said to herself but just loud enough for Jisoo to hear. "wait a sec...WE GET INTERNS?". Before Jennie could reply a cheerful young girl appeared in front of Jisoo's eye line. "Hi! I'm Choi Jisu your intern. I figured my Korean name would be kinda awkward for you to call me by, but it's fine cause I normally go by my English Name-Lia". The girl said while handing Jisoo her coffee. Jisoo was going to introduce herself but the girl interrupted her and said "no need for you to introduce yourself, I already know everything about you. Oh my god that sounded creepy, I didn't mean it like that. It's just that I look up to you and I'm just super pumped up about this an- " "Shhh. I like you Lia and I surprisingly understood everything you just said, but from now on you're gonna have to talk slower. 'kay?". Lia pressed her lips tightly and nodded excitedly. This was gonna be a long day for Jisoo.

"So who did you get?" Lisa asked. "My intern is really cool. She always has this really intense look and is really competent. But she kinda scares me." Chaeyoung A.K.A Rosie said. Jisoo smiled amusingly, "really? What's her name?" "Shin Ryujin. She's amazing and all but she didn't look even a bit fazed when she saw all the blood and gore in the E.R this morning. I mean I used to almost always puke when I was an intern." "Pfffft, that's cause you are you. She seems hardcore, she might be a good change of pace for you Chaeyoung-ah" Lisa said just to entice Rosie. Before they could start bickering, Jisoo intervened and said "It's so weird we have interns now. I mean I know we did lots of stuff when we were interns but we were never assigned to one doctor." "That's not all that's new" Chaeyoung replied. "What do you mean?" "Well there is also this new doctor her-" "New doctor?! Nope. New HOT doctor" Lisa added. "Yes well he is good looking I'll give him that" Rosie chimed in. "continue" "We don't really know much about him except that he transferred from Daegu for some weird reason and that he works in Ortho (bones)" "He's a surgeon?" "Yup, perfect for you" Lisa said with a sly smile. "But why would he transfer from Daegu, don't they have the best hospital in Korea?" "Exactly my point, that was very odd. He supposedly worked there too." Chaeyoung said. "How do you know that?" Lisa asked. "Jimin told me" "Oh my god why do you even talk to him; he works in plastics" Lisa said while trying not to gag. "Plus Jennie unnie hates him and she would be pissed if she found out you two were 'buddies'" "Don't say buddies like that. I talk to him cause I'm a polite person." "How would he even know that stuff anyway?" Jisoo asked. "He's close friends with him." "You are awfully curious aren't you unnie?" Lisa said. Jisoo would be lying if she said she wasn't interested in dating. All those years before now she never had any time to date, only time to eat, sleep and study. Now that she has more time, the singleness had hit her. She realized she hadn't been with someone since college and that freaked her out. She wanted to get rid of that feeling ASAP. "Unnie you're being paged it's 911" chaeng said. Jisoo looked at her phone and immediately made her way to the Peds wing aka the pediatric wing. If you haven't googled that already that means kids. Jisoo is a pediatric surgeon meaning she works with kids. Right now she was being paged about her patient who had broken her arm.

When she got there she saw a crowd around the patient's room. She heard laughs and giggles, some coming from her own intern. "Lia?" "Oh my god Dr. Kim what are you doing here?" "I was paged. By you" Jisoo said with slight annoyance in her tone. "Oh yea that's right, the patient was experiencing lots of pain so I paged you but then Doctor Kim got here, I mean the other Doctor Kim". Confused, Jisoo looked over to see the broad back of a man sitting at the side of the bed of the patient, cracking jokes with the patient and the rest of the staff. "What happened?" Jisoo asked. "Turns out that the patient popped her shoulder but she kept on moving and screaming so we couldn't do anything but Doctor Kim came out of nowhere and just popped it back in." "It was so cool" said an intern beside Lia. Jisoo looked to see all the interns standing there and gushing over him. Even Shin Ryujin who she made out from her ID. She made her way in the room and said to all the nurses and interns "ok shows over, get back to work". They all groaned and made their way out the room. She made her way to the patient and did a quick check up on her. She turned around to see the face of the other Doctor Kim staring at her. What Lisa and Chaeyoung said was true, he was extremely handsome. She realized she may have been looking for too long and quickly stood up straight. She cleared her throat and stretched out her hand "Hi, I'm Doctor Kim Jisoo, the pediatric surgeon assigned to this case"
