I slammed the door and ran. I turned the corner of his long, empty driveway when he first called my name out. "Delani!" He called out. His voice sounded rough and intoxicated. He'd been getting drunk a lot lately. He was running after me clumsily tripping over his feet now and then. It would only be a matter of time till he would give up. I picked up my pace and the burning sensation in my cheek raged on, the cold slapping me as I ran. My short weak legs were taking me no where in particular. I didn't have anywhere to go. No family. No friends. Nothing. I was in a weak fragile state. I was hysterically crying when he grabbed my wrist sending a sharp pain through arm. I screeched I'm pain looking up into his cold green eyes. "Fuck off" I spat. "I'm sorry baby, let's go home." He slurred. Without having to think I kicked him in the stomach and started running. " Bitch!" He swore under his breath. He must or realized I wasn't worth it because he didn't run after me, to my luck. My sore legs ran all the way to the docks. It must have been past midnight by now. I had no where to go. No money, no contact. Nothing. I sat down on the cold wooden platform and sobbed. I was freezing. I hung my feet over the edge of the dock and let my toes splash the icy ocean water. It was painfully refreshing. my long black hair stuck to my tear Stained face. I brought my knees up to my bruised stomach and screamed with every bit of energy I had left. Here I was, alone surrounded by a bunch of vacant boats, with nothing but a pair of wet jeans and a soaked sweatshirt. I observed the dark purple patches up my arms and winced in pain as i lightly touched them. My third abusive boyfriend. Its not like I haven't been beaten and hit before. The wounds would heal in a matter of months. "Why do I do this to myself?" I whispered. Its my fault for falling in love. Its gotten me here every time. I was slowly drifting in to a painful sleep when I felt something wrap around my shoulders. To weak to scream I just groaned and looked up. A man, old in age. He lifted me up and carried me down the dock and into a boat of good size. Expecting the worst. I sobbed and screeched kicking the man and trying to break free. "Shhhhhh" he whispered. " I'm not going to hurt you" he said. I nodded and fell to my feet crying. He laid a protective arm around me and let me fall asleep on the couch the that laid beneath the boat.
