His eyes were dim.
Light could've been swallowed by them.
Expression flat, hair styled, suit adjusted. Black and white, his suit was, just like the world. Drained of colour, drained of emotion, drained of true peace.
'The funeral of a legend' is what the newspaper called it.
But that pissed Bakugo off. Because him being a legend didn't seem right, didn't sound right. Legends are dead and live on among the stars. He wasn't meant to be a legend yet, he'd barely reached his mid 20's.
And here they were, Bakugo in a tie, preparing for the mans funeral.. no - not man - boy.
'Too young', 'such an untimely death' they'd all say.But what they were truly thinking was selfish. Now everyone was worried for their safety as if Midoriya was the only one protecting Japan.
'Crime will rise again'. They'd never say it out loud, but it was so obvious that it could smell.
'Oh, shut up, will you?!' He'd thought.
Still, he'd ignore their potent thoughts as best he could, getting on with his day without becoming too riled up. After all, he can't cease their fears with anger - that would only dampen their hopes more.
Anyway, currently he was stood in Midoriya and Uraraka's - no... just Uraraka's house - getting ready. He'd dreaded today because it only confirmed what he already knew. Izuku was gone for good, and his burial sealed that fact in resin.
He glanced over at his phone as it buzzed again. Aimee was moving out of the house that they were now selling and moving in with her best friend Celestine for the time being. She was sending her condolences, having only met Izuku once but still feeling the horrid grief.
He'd thanked her, wished her good luck in her future and exited the chat. Safe to say, he wasn't exactly in the mood to talk to anyone today. And that was probably the last time he'd speak to her.
Sucking air into his nose as water peaked along his eyes, he adjusted his blazer jacket. It was the one he'd tried on for his wedding, Midoriya stood close by.
God, who knew a stupid jacket could mean so much now that he's gone?
Kirishima came up behind him, setting his warm hands on the blonde's shoulders. Bakugo's head dropped, wanting to hide his sorrow from his boyfriend. He stayed there, now massaging his shoulders and placing a few gentle kisses along the back of his neck.
"Today is gonna be difficult," He started, voice just above a whisper "But we'll get through it together, yeah?"
Katsuki nodded, licking his lips as to hold back his seemingly never-ending tears. Eijiro planted one final kiss on his cheek, poking his head around to reach. The blonde threw his hands onto the redheads, shutting his eyes and absorbing the comforting heat that emitted from them. He sighed, as content as he could be for the next 24 hours at least.
He spun around, stealing a kiss on the lips as Kirishima melted against him, an arm slinging around his neck.
"You are so strong.." He mumbled dearly, only admiration in his eyes for Katsuki.
"You're stronger," He chuckled weakly, the way it escaped sounding as if he were disappointed in himself.
Kirishima tutted, pulling him in for a soothing embrace "Stop thinking like that, Katsuki," He whispered in his ear "You're incredible. I know how much it hurts and it's impressive that you're even coping. I'm so proud of you."
