"What the hell are you doing here Vincent?"
I marched up and stood next to Faith behind the door as she spoke to her ex-boyfriend, taking a peek at him through the crack. Of course Vincent would show up now. It was as if he had the inane skill of bad timing, constantly around at the most inconvenient times.
"I believe that we need to have a discourse. We didn't exactly part on the greatest of terms and I would like to resolve that." He answered as Faith's eyes gave a slight roll.
"Well, I'm busy right now. So if you'll excuse me---" She began to close the door but he wedged his foot to stop it from shutting and I tried my best to stay in place.
"I only need a few minutes of your time and then I'll be out of your hair." He interrupted and I started to move to intervene but Faith subtly signaled for me to calm down. I knew Faith could handle this but if he thought he could just barge in he was greatly mistaken and I couldn't promise that I would be able to stay silent for long.
"You have one minute." She responded calmly.
Vincent cleared his throat as if about to start a presentation. "After speaking with your parents---"
"My parents?" She asked in shock as he nodded.
"Yes, your parents. We all agreed that the best solution for everyone involved would be to get back together."
Faith laughed. "The best solution? For whom?"
"Well, for the two of us. Your father and mother believe I'm the best option for you and I can't help but agree. This relationship could be beneficial to us both and has excellent potential."
I rolled my eyes. Of course that was what her parents agreed with. They were Team Vincent after all. Vincent had the looks. Vincent had the money. Vincent had the perfect set up for any girl that wanted the easy life handed to her, but that was never who Faith was.
She shook her head. "I no longer care what my parents think, or you for that matter. I have no interest in becoming your Stepford wife."
It took a lot for me to keep the laugh I had building up inside under wraps at her reply. Vincent sighed with frustration, his tone changing and becoming slightly more aggressive. "I'm sure you've had a couple of nights of fun and have probably been enjoying the single life but all of that is over now."
"Is that so?" Faith snorted in surprise.
"Yes. Now we can get things back to normal, to how they should be. The way things were before..." Vincent trailed off and she glared at him.
"Before... what? Before Owen came back?"
"As a matter of fact, yes. You have to admit, you haven't exactly been making the soundest decisions since he's been here and I can't---"
That was it. I couldn't take his whiny voice anymore. Faith couldn't stop me in time from grabbing the door and pulling it open wider to reveal myself, placing my large body in front of hers somewhat protectively. "Do you not have anywhere else to be besides bothering her right now?"
Disbelief turned into hysterical anger as Vincent began to laugh. It was quite the sight to see, him in his wrinkled suit and disheveled blonde hair. This was a very different Vincent from the one I saw leave Gwen's party a few days ago. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me..." He looked from me to Faith while firmly shaking his head at her. "How could you be so naïve?" My hands curled into fists as he berated her like a child. "Have you forgotten that this man cheated on you then skipped town leaving you to face the brunt of his actions alone? You can't be this stupid Faith."
