From all the blood loss, I had passed out. When I woke up, the pain from the bullet was excruciating. But above me was Dr. Cullen and his son, whose name I thought was Eddison, or something like that, and Dr. Cullen's daughter in law, Bella. Honestly, I thought they were just visions, coming into sight because of blood loss.

"Rowan, can you hear me?"

I shrieked something that may have been a yes. He looked to Bella, and she...well, she...

She sunk her teeth into my arm!

"What are you doing?! What are you-"

And then a wave of the most horrible pain imaginable hit me. And I had thought a bullet in the stomach was bad.

Over my impossibly loud screams, I could almost hear Dr. Cullen say,

"Rowan, please stop screaming! Soon the pain will be gone!"

Even his soothing, bell-like voice did not calm me. And suddenly, the world went black.

My eyelids lifted up, and everything was bright.

I was in a strange house, with strange people around me. But more importantly, everything seemed...off. Perfect, but off. I had always had 20/20 vision, but I could see in a way that made 20/20 vision like being blind. I could see the fibers of the threads on the strange tapestry in front of me, and the beautiful featues of the people in front of me.

My haering was extremely enhanced, as well. I could here a strange musical yet tinny sound. I figured that it was and iPod in the distance somewhere, playing. All of this amazed me.

Finally, I realized that these must be the other Cullens. I had already met Dr. Cullen and his wife, and Bella and Edward, but the gorgeous women and men in front of me must be his other daughters, Alice and Rosalie, and his other sons, Jasper and Emmett.

Then I realized that I had not breathed for minutes already, bu it seemed I did not need to. Though, when I did finally inhale, I smelled a calming honeysuckle and rosemary scent from outside.

"Doctor...Doctor Cullen! What is going on? I'm so confused... where am I?"

"Rowan, you are at my home. We have a lot to tell you, and I think it would be easier if my daughter, Bella, would explain to you."

I looked over to the stunning brunette who now smiled at me.

"Would you like to talk in the other room?"

"Yes, please."

Bella lead me towards a small room with a couple of couches and a small book shelf. She sat down, but I remained standing.

"Well, firstly, hello. I'm Bella, and I am married to Edward, your doctor's son," Bella paused, then continued, "Rowan, four days ago you were shot in your stomach. You would have died, in fact. But Carlisle...er, Dr. Cullen, smelled the blood and ran to help. He asked me to come to your home and save you."

"Bella, is it? Well, Bella, you seem very nice but you are completely insane and slightly emo because you bit my freaking arm! AND YOU DRANK BLOOD FROM MY ARM, YOU FREAK!"

I didn't recognized the musical voice escaping my lips, or the hiss coming from someone else's in the previous room.

"Rowan, you don't understand. We...we are...Rowan, we're vampires."

I began to laugh, but when Bella didn't join in, I stopped.

"Rowan, we are vampires. And you are one of us now."

I stared, wide eyed and mouth open, at this strange yet exotic-ly beautiful woman. It started to sink in. I looked from the wall to the floor, looking at the imperfections I saw with my new eyes. I listened to the new sounds of animals outside that I'd never heard before with my new ears. I smelled the scent of those around me with my new nose. I felt a burning sensation in my new throat.

My eye caught a glimpse of shine on the wall. It was a mirror. I walked to it with my new legs that were like a cat's, and I looked at my reflection. My tan skin and blue eyes-gone. My imperfect but familiar posture-gone. Even my old clothing, which was always black and rocker-ish had been replaced ith a cocktail dress and strappy heels. I looked similar to Bella. Similar to all of them. They had taken my life away from me. And for that, I hated them.

It was all too much. I began screaming at almost a soprano tone, and jumped out of the large, open window. I wanted to fall, break a bone, crack my back...anything that would have happened to me if I'd attempted a stunt like that before I was...a...a vampire.

But even my klutziness had been stolen from me. I landed gracefully, and when I tried to run normally, my new body ran faster than I ever knew anything on the planet could.

I ran through the forest untilI reached a small clearing where there was a little spring. I sat on the grass and tried to cry. Those demons had taken that from me as well. After my discovery that I couldn't cry, I then remembered that I would have to drink blood to survive. I would have to kill innocent people, like a monster. No, not like. I was a monster.

I looked up, suddenly aware that one of those beautiful, evil demons was there. It was the blonde, who I had guessed was Rosalie.

"Get away from me! I HATE YOU!" I screamed at the wicked woman. But she sat down on the green and perfect grass, right next to me.

"I am Rosalie," she said in her too-perfect voice, "and I know what you must be going through."

"No, you don't! How dare you sit her and tell me you know what I must be going through, you BITCH! You are a thief, and a worse one than the man who shot me! Jewlery can be replaced, but you! You have stolen my life, my soul, MY EVERYTHING! I hate you!"

"Please do not hate me. If it were not for us, you would be dead-"

"I would rather be dead than be like you! You do not... you cannot understand!"

"What do you take that I misunderstand, Rowan?" Rosalie pressed on.

"I am only seventeen, you monster!" I screamed, "I wanted to grow up! I wanted to one day have a husband to grow old with, to one day have children, then grandchildren! And instead, I will be forever frozen here and now!"

Rosalie stared at me for awhile as I tried to cope with my sadness (I still couldn't cry). Then she spoke up,

"Rowan, I truly do know how you feel. When I was changed, I didn't have a choice at all. I had always wanted children, and a husband to grow old with. But would you really rather give up everything on Earth that you still have to be dead in the ground?"

I looked up. I had not thought of it that way. Rosalie smiled at me. I realized that Rosalie, Bella, and all the other Cullens weren't demons, nor monsters. They were just misundertood.

A cloud broke in the sky, and sunlight shot through. My skin began to sparkle, and to shine. I was in awe, and yet Rosalie's perfect expression didn't falter.

"Is...is this normal?" I asked.

"Yes, every time that we are hit with direct sunlight."

"And Rosalie...I'll have to transfer to Forks High School, won't I? Because I go to school in Colorado, where my I live."

Rosalie nodded. She then said,

"Come on. Let's go home."

I got up, and in our sonic speed run, we went home.
