CHAPTER 9: GOLEM: THE THIRD SACRED CREATURE

As Geed drew closer to the stone statue which was over fifty feet high and twenty feet wide, the gigantic statue awakened and grabbed a huge stone staff.

"It's awakening!" Taros screamed.

The huge statue, Golem struck a blow at Geed. Geed quickly leapt out of the way and sliced at the legs of the Golem with Wind. The Wind Slice almost didn't have any effect on the Golem. Alice shot fireballs at the Golem but these merely caused minor explosions. The Golem struck again at Geed. Geed quickly evaded. Taros removed bombs from his pouch and hurled them at the Golem but the Golem in fury lashed out angrily at Geed, Alice and Taros. The Golem struck a blow which knocked Geed into one of the walls. A sudden memory of Romanus falling, Canine dying filled Geed's mind and the star on his shoulder began to glow. Geed's eyes became golden bright. He stretched out a hand towards the Golem's legs and when he closed his fist, the legs of the Golem shattered causing the Golem to collapse to the ground. Geed stretched his hands towards the Golem's head and closed his fist. The Golem's head turned to dust and the rest of its body lay lifeless on the ground. Then Geed collapsed.

Geed opened his eyes a while later to see the collapsed Golem.

"How did you do that? That was definitely not controlling Wind. The only person I knew with that kind of power was Geed" Alice said quite suspiciously.

"I don't know, it just happened" Geed replied.

Geed walked into one of the rooms of the Temple/Golem. The room was huge. Geed walked on and on and finally reached a room where a young girl sat sewing merrily. The effect of the powers Geed displayed began to weaken him and he collapsed.

"I'm guessing you are the other Magi" the girl said when Geed finally opened his eyes. "I'm Diane, I have Earth Powers but I was seized by the monster when I was very young" she narrated. "What about you?" she asked.

"I'm the Princess Of Phoenicia, Lord Kane kidnapped my father, I'm on a quest to rescue him" Alice narrated.

"I was once a thief but meeting these people changed me" Taros narrated.

"And you?" Diane asked Geed.

"My past is not something I like to talk about. It's full of painful memories I'd rather forget" Geed replied.

At this Diane walked to Geed and touched his forehead with her forefinger. Geed's memories of Phoenicia filled her mind.

"I see, you have indeed suffered a great loss. Such pain is hard to just forget but if you are to be this world's symbol of hope, you must not lose hope yourself. Keep going and never ever stop believing" Diane said.

Tears filled Geed's eyes as he recalled Canine's last words.

"Alice, Taros, I'm sorry. I'll try to be a better leader" Geed said.

Alice nodded happily and Taros smiled.

"I'm feeling better Diane. Thanks. Now can you help us find the Earth Gem?" Geed asked.

Almost immediately after the question had left Geed's lips, the Golem disappeared and the Earth Gem stood in its place. A voice said

"I have tested you and found you worthy, you may take the gem, GIDEON OF THE LIGHT!"

Geed walked towards the Gem and took it. He added it to the Fire and Wind Gems in his pouch.

"Now to bring Subterranea to the surface" Geed said.

So Diane stood on one side of Subterranea, Geed stood on the other side and with their combined Wind and Earth powers they lifted Subterranea to the surface. Once on the surface, the people of Subterranea began to celebrate. The royals came out to meet them.

"Geed, Alice, Diane, Taros, we're sorry for all we put you through. If there is anything you will need for your journey, please let us know" the King said.

"No thanks, I think we're set" Geed said.

"In that case, I hope we meet again" the King waved.

Geed removed the Wind Gem from the pouch and held it tight. A huge wave of Wind blew over them as King Aerobis descended from the Sky and carried the four friends into the Sky.

"Now to find the Elemental Kingdom Of Marinea, LET'S GO!" Geed yelled as King Aerobis took to the skies.
