Emily opens the back door and takes a look around. The front of the house was blocked by zombies. She urges Kate come over so she can lift her over the gate.
"You doing alright?" Emily asked as Kate walked over.
"I'm ok..." Kate replied.
Emily nodded and lifted Kate over. She then jumped over the gate and they continued walking.
"Kate stay here I hear some of them." Emily said.
"Wha.. You gonna fucking make me stay? Kate whispered. "What if you get hurt?"
"Number 1, I know mom and dad aren't here but don't be cursing like that. Number 2, I'm trying to protect you." Emily said. "You don't even know how to fucking shoot a gun. Why the hell would I let you go down there?!"
Kate nodded and sat on the grass. "I just wanna help..." She said.
Emily sighed and walked towards the small crowd of zombies. "Just watch how I shoot first, ok?"
"Ok" Kate replied.
Emily pulled her beanie a little bit and then continued walking as she wiped her brunette hair from her face. She aimed her gun at one zombie.
"Remember...headshot for a quick kill."
She shoots the gun. The zombie falls to the ground as she shoots another. And another, and another. When the last Zombie was down she called for Kate.
"I heard if you smell like a zombie the other zombies will smell you as a zombie." Kate said.
"It might work." Emily replied as she closed her red flannel shirt.
Kate smiled and nodded as they walked toward the body. Emily put on her coat and started to rub the zombie blood on herself. Kate did the same. Emily fixed her beanie again and put her hands in her pocket.
"Kate..." She said. "I'm sorry you have to go through this."
"I know." She replied."But its kinda fun."
Emily took out her phone and hoped for signal.
"Yess 2 bars at least." She thought.
"Hey hold up for a sec Kate. I'm gonna call Drew." Emily said.
Kate nodded and looked in her bag for her granola bar.
"Hey Drew." She said when he finally picked up.
"What the hell do you want from me bitch..." Drew said.
"Your still fucking mad at me!? Emily yelled louder."I'm protecting my sister! Why are you acting like I cheated on you!?"
When she got no reply she sighed.
"I always knew you were so cold hearted. You only care about yourself. What do you want sex in the apocalypse Drew!?" Emily yelled. "I knew it wouldn't work out."
"Thats not wh--" Drew was cut off.
"Sure you didn't Drew. Save your excuses." She said and hung up the phone.
"Ar..are you ok?" Kate asked.
"Yeah I'm ok." Emily replied. She held Kate's hand and looked her in the eyes.
"I will protect you no matter what it takes or cost." Emily said.
Kate smiled and nodded. Emily fliped her hair from her face and stared up at the sky.
"Looks like 2 stars are gonna be in the sky tonight." Emily said.
"They would be proud of you Emily." Kate said.
"Thanks. They would be proud of you too Kate." Emily replied smiling.
They continued walking. But the sun was starting to set. They walked into the woods. It was beautiful to Kate and Emily. They both loved nature. Emily picked a flower and sniffed it.
"A Bellflower." Emily said.
"Wow." Kate replied."They're pretty."
They continued to walk as the sun finally went down. The dark sky made things hard see and they decided to rest. They both climbed up a tree and layed on a big branch. They put two blankets on there bodies and cuddled for more warmth.
"Hey," Emily said."Hang in there Kate."
Kate nodded. "I will."
