A/N: This fanfiction was written by me and my friend (@gymnastgirl18). This is our first fanfiction and we hope you like it. It takes place between the 3rd and 4th book. Warning: Do not read unless you have read at least to the 3rd book of this series!

Jaron POV:

I sat at my desk. More paperwork. Honestly that was all I ever did these days. Imogen walked in and I put my pencil down quickly, relieved to take a break.

"Jaron I've got some news but you have to promise not to do somersaults, or run around the room, or climb something. Ok?" Imogen said.

"Um...ok?" That was a strange request.

"We're going on vacation," she replied. Ok I admit, I may have done a few somersaults. And ran around the room. Then maybe attempted to climb the walls. Mott walked in.

"I told you he would go crazy." He said.

"Sometimes I wonder why I even bother." Imogen said. Tobias and Amaridna joined them.

"At least he didn't do somersaults this time." Tobias commented.

"Actually, I think he did." Amarinda said.

"Oh well, at least he's getting energy out."

Mott put his head in his hands. "Thank goodness there's no one else here."

I finally stopped bouncing around. "When do we leave?" I asked.

Fink ran in and started shooting questions at us at lightspeed. "We're going on vacation? When do we leave? Who's coming? Where are we going? Can I bring my rat?"

"No rat!" I shouted.

"Anyway," Imogen said, "We're going to Libeth. Roden is already there with Nila. We're leaving in a few days, after the regents meeting."

"What?" I replied, "Can't we leave before? I really wanna miss that meeting." I draped myself across the chair for dramatic flair. "They're so boring!"

"Quit being such a baby about it" replied Tobias.

"I am not being a baby! You try sitting through one of those things," I retorted.

"I'm one of your regents. I sit through all of them" He responded

"Oh right. Well... at least you can just ignore it all and read or sleep! If I do that they just stop until Kerwyn wakes me up, and then continue at half the speed they were before! It feels like everything but me moves in slow motion in those meetings!"

"I think exactly the opposite. You're just twice the speed of everyone else."

"See, you are slow motion," I said in slow motion.

"I am not!" he replied.

Amarinda broke in. "Boys, boys, break it up."

I knew she was right, but I just had to have the last word, "You are too!"

Tobias turned to Amarinda, "Can't I argue with him just this once? Roden does it all the time."

She glared at him, "Tobias," Amarinda warned.

I laughed, "Tobias isn't allowed to argue," I taunted.

"Neither are you," Imogen said.

That wasn't fair and she knew it. "But..."

"Not another word Jaron! If you two keep arguing we'll leave you behind to attend all the 'boring' meetings."

"You wouldn't dare betray me! Don't leave me here to die!" She scolded me often but this was worse punishment than I deserved. Probably.

"Try me." She said. She looked pretty serious and I didn't doubt that she would go through with her threat. Those two words were my defeat.

"Fine," I huffed. If it had come from anyone else I would have kept arguing but Imogen had the effect of making me slightly more rational. I hated rational thought. But we were going on vacation and hopefully that would get me through the regent meeting.
