Setback

Was 8 pm and I was ready, but Asher hadn't shown up, he said 7:45, and stupidly I was ready half an hour before that. White gown, open back, hair slightly pulled together, simple and natural makeup, I'm almost sure I'll pass unnoticed.

My phone rang, "hello"

"Lady Ledger, this is Anne Mr. Ledger's PA, sorry to notify you until this moment but he will not go for you, we have some inconveniences with the event and we are almost set until right now", she explained and I could hear she was busy.

"What happened?"

"I can fill you in when you arrive, I sent a limo for you already, should be arriving", she explained.

"Ok, I'll be there in a moment", I assured her and we hung up.

At the elevator waiting to get to the lobby the door opened for somebody, just a floor below, "Hello Ariana", she smirked.

"Katherine", I noted.

"Let me guess, Gabriel didn't come to pick you up", she smirked again while I pressed the button for the lobby again.

"Let me guess your sole reason to be here is to harass me and especially to harass my husband", I replied and smirked as well.

"No, of course not... I'm here because he invited me, and I'm always available for the benefit of the children", she unsuccessfully tried to lie to me and I chuckled.

The door opened and left her before she could say anything more, "yeah the children", I blurted.

The limo was waiting for me when we arrived there's a mini purple carpet and a lot of people are
parading on it, and a bunch more are taking pictures, I felt out of place, and damn Asher for making me walk alone this thing.

As soon as I stepped out flashes blinded me, strong hands surrounded my waist and a whisper to my ear made me tremble, "Smile" and I automatically did not because he ordered but because of the simple fact he came for me to the limo. This looks like a gala instead of a charity, I heard my name yell a lot of times, and I didn't know where to look.

We finally passed the carpet and we were inside, "your PA mentioned there were some issues, do you want to share what happened?", I asked him and now that we were alone I could see he was concerned.

"The buffet was delayed, the artist I hired will not present and that was my hope to entertain these smugs, gladly my orator just arrived, he mentioned getting an email changing the timeframes, so I think was sabotage", he explained frustrated, at my face, he smiled and told me a band is on their way here but will take at least 45 min.

"Ok, you can play the piano meanwhile", I suggested and he looked at me like I was speaking nonsense, "come on, you play exquisitely, and is to save time", I insisted.

"Ok, that can take about 15 minutes at the most, what about the rest of them?", He asked me, and I saw Katherine get in.

"You have an orator, and there are a lot of single women today, who can put in auction their first dance", I suggested, "it used to be done before in the big balls and is for a good cause, let's speak with some of them, Katherine will be more than willing to do so if you ask her, and I'm sure other women would do too if you ask them too", I told him confidently, "uses your good looks", I teased, he genuinely smiled at my comment.

"Anne", he called and her assistant and she appeared with the orator, they were informed about the plan and we needed to start in a few.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen...", the Master of ceremonies started to speak about the importance of this event, we have so far 10 volunteers including Katherine, who helped to look for some of the bachelorettes who will be supporting the cause, finally Asher was introduced and He advances to the stage but then stops and gesture me to accompany him, I walk until our hands tangled and he kissed me tenderly, "this is for my beautiful wife", he said to the mic, I blushed as awww and claps sounded.
