An Angel Fall

The Courtship

It was three days of full peace and by that, I mean Ledger had let me and my father rest from his presence, my dad was back at home, and so far everything at the factory was going great.

"Miss Archer, Mr. Ledger is on line two", Vanessa, my dad's PA announced.

"Archer", I replied mocking his salute.

"Funny", he scolds but I sense he smiled, "my dear Scar, tonight we have a date, I'll pick you up at 7 pm be ready", he told me and I rolled my eyes.

"7 o'clock or 6:30 pm again?", I smirked

"Good to hear you are getting to know me", he replied and I cleared my throat

"Where?, if I may ask", I asked him.

"The Pendragon", he mentioned the most exclusive club we have in the area, is mostly for lords but they accept very rich people too.

"Of course it is", I replied, "is it just us? Or is it a business meeting with any of your potential business partners?", I asked.

"Just us, it's time to start the courtship",  he mentioned and I sighed, "I want you as in love with me as I will show myself to you", he asked 

"Ok, I understand, don't worry", I assured him

"See you later, princess", he replied with a quick goodbye and hung up.

"Jerk", I sighed and put the phone down.

I concentrated on my work, I was able to contact the debtors and offer a payment arrangement that benefited both parties, before going to legal action.

I verified the guarantee of the machine my dad was purchasing and was not good so I renegotiated the terms and when they refused, I canceled the order, an hour later they called back to apologize for the behavior of the previous seller and take my request.

Was almost 5:40 pm when I realized the time, I grabbed my purse and locked my important documents in the top drawer of my desk, locking my office I noticed Vanessa was still there waiting, "Vanessa, what are you doing here? Your shift ended 40min ago", I asked

"I wanted to stay in case you need anything, lady Archer, I know I didn't create the best first impression but I want to prove myself to you", she sincerely answers.

"Well, that is great to hear, thank you. But please don't stay late if I don't request you to do so, I don't want to take advantage of you", I smiled at her and she returned the smile, "well time to go home", I told her and she nodded.

Waiting outside was Mr. Jackson I noted no one was waiting for her and there were no cars in the parking lot, "how are you getting home, is someone coming for you?", I asked.

"No, I was going to take a taxi", she explained.

"Come, I'll give you a ride", I told her and she smiled, "Hi Mr. Jackson, thanks for coming for me, this is Vanessa Martin my PA, Vanessa this is the one and only Mr. Jackson", I introduced them.

Her house was not that far was on the town center, we had to go through the town to get to the manor anyway, I learned that she is an only child like me, and lives with her mother because his father passed away a few years back, and started to work with us when Ledger recommended her to my dad after Nancy's retirement was necessary and she has all the skills and experience for the job.

I think I misjudged her at the beginning, but now I see her in a different light. We got to the manor at 6:15 pm, "damn is late", I cursed and ran to my room, I change into a dress that was I think appropriate, then I applied a bit of make-up, and ran to my dad's room to see him.
