It was just another day. Nothing much to note. Just the regular training with Monkey King, deliveries, and hearing stories from Tang and Mei (new and old, respectively).
At the end of the day, MK settled down in his bed, content with the events for the day. Of course, he would have preferred something a bit more action-packed, but not every day could be "the day," he tried to convince himself. The keyword in that sentence being "tried." But all of the sudden, there was a frantic, almost angry tapping on the window.
Thinking it must have been Pigsy, asking him to help lock up shop, MK groaned as he hopped out of his bed. The knocks were persistent. He opened the window, an answer prepared for his boss. But he wasn't greeted with the familiar pig, no, he was greeted with a very unimpressed Red Son.
"Noodle Boy, don't you know that it's CUSTOMARY to answer a demon at his FIRST knock?" A large spark of flame erupted from him, as his frustration peaked, then quelled.
MK had completely forgotten that Mei had planned a hangout for the three. After all, ever since they went to the celestial realm, Mei had made it her mission to befriend Red Son.
"Um... No? You and your dad are like, the first demons I've met... Sooooo," MK laughed it off. Playing off of his scowl, MK quickly gestured him in. Red Son climbed in a bit awkwardly, after all, the only way that he had gotten in and out of MK's room previously was going through the shop, and blowing up the wall on his way out. MK looked outside the window but didn't see Mei. "Hey, where's-"
"Your giddy electric friend won't be joining us. She said she had some house sitting thing, but she was insistent that I still attended," Red Son said with a wave of his hand as if he read MK's mind, though it was just intuition, looking for somewhere to sit that he wouldn't have to clear off himself. "Your residence is a mess."
"Yeah, sorry about that," MK said, closing the window. "I sort of, maybe forgot you were coming?" MK tried to make that not sound as insulting as it sounded, but Red Son would have grasped onto that no matter how he delivered it.
"What?! You mean to tell me that you forgot I, RED SON, the son of DEMON BULL KING, was coming over today?!" He began to get worked up, ticcing more even more than usual.
"No, no! I just kinda, thought it was tomorrow instead of today! Today felt kinda like yesterday, and yesterday felt like the day before that, so I thought I had time today and... Yeah, it kinda just happened, you know?" MK rubbed the back of his neck. "I mean, I didn't even know if you actually accepted Mei's invitation!"
"Ugh, of COURSE I did. Do you think I would be so cowardly as to not attend a stupid "hangout" session?" Red Son rolled his eyes, as once again his emotions slightly quelled into his normal level of persistent anger.
"Well, okay. Soooo, what do you want to do?" MK plopped down on his bed, while Red Son sat in MK's desk chair.
"I would like to... I don't know. What could you POSSIBLY have here that would be entertaining to a demon?" Red Son crossed his arms, stubbornly refusing to contribute.
"Hmmm. How about we watch a movie?" MK suggested, looking around for any movies he had lying around. "If not, we could play a game or something?"
Red Son shrugged, "A movie would be adequate, I suppose."
MK grabbed the first movie he saw, which was one of the ones he and Mei watched during their last movie night. It was good, a funny comedy. Probably not something Red Son would like as much, but he surely wouldn't hate it either. He probably wouldn't have liked any of the other movies that MK had on hand anyway.
MK scrambled to get the movie started, while Red Son watched him.
"Hey, you can't even see the movie from over there!" MK pointed out as he grabbed the remote. He scooted over on his bed, patting the space he created beside him.
