EMMA'S POV
I woke up from my beauty sleep and stood up from my four-poster bed. I stretched my arms and did a small yawn.
I looked out through my glass window and went out to the balcony.
"What a lovely morning...." I mumbled to myself with a deep breath. "Of course it is, Emma" a feminine voice called out behind me. I turned around to see Emilia, my mother.
"Mom! What are you doing here?" I got startled.
"What? Can't I see my daughter for once in a while? Forget that. I'm here because your father and I have finally found a betrothed." She informed me. My eyes widened, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I'm not ready for a husband! Okay, Emma, breathe, this must be a joke, so get along with it.
"Haha, very funny, mother. I know this is a joke. You can't fool me" I sarcastically said to her. Mom's smile turned into a frown.
"Emma, take this seriously. This is not a practical joke" mother said with a serious tone in her voice. My smiled fated as I have already noticed that this was a serious situation.
"What? With who?" I asked with with a solemn voice.
"With Josh Dylan. And that's not all, you will meet him the day after tomorrow. I am so proud of you, the apple of my eye is getting married to a man!," Mother cried with sobs, "I almost forgot to mention, Josh is five years older than you...."
Josh Dylan!? I'm sixteen for God's sake! He must be twenty-one! I am going to get married to a man who I don't even know!
"If I am the apple of your eye, then why did you set up a marriage without informing me?" I hissed at her. Mom is somewhat hot-headed, and she did not liked it when I disrespected her in a rude manner.
"Do not cross me, Emma Charlene Marcela! I am doing this for your own good to keep the family bloodline on going in near future!" Mother yelled. I can tell she was so desperate and despair.
"I'm sorry, mom. It's just that....I'm not ready to have a husband...." I whispered, but loud enough for her to hear. Mom walked towards me and brought me into a deep and loving hug. "I know, darling. I was in the same situation as you with your father. But we came to love eachother, and then we had you, the symbol of our love." She whispered in my ear. I nodded. My parents were in the same condition as I am right now. When it was my bedtime (when I was six years old) mother and father would tuck me on my bed and tell me the story of how they met and how they went through a lot of problems. I must say, it was one true love story between two people who didn't stand eachother at first.
"But I'm still going to refuse" I snapped, trying to not say it in a rude way. Mother sighed, "well, you have to speak with your father about this. After all, it was his suggestion."
My father had this idea? Mother just agreed because of him? Oh well....I am not going to deal with my father. I hate it when we have important conversations about my future. He always have these deals to make me accept his submissions, which he tricks me in doing so, whatsoever. He is one smart man. Believe me. Think, how would he manage to control a multi billion dollar business? Answer; Brain.
"Fine. I'll talk to father about this marriage tragedy" I said along with a groan. I didn't want to have another important talks with him. Mother gently patted my back. "Of course, he has all the time in the world for you. He is waiting for your response at his office." I heard that before; he has all the time in the world for you. I'll give her a penny for her thoughts. But father is so busy with the company that I don't receive that much attention from him. Sometimes, he will miss dinner and family nights, and even my birthdays. But he will always make it up to me by spending a day with me and mum.
